      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Racing yacht profiles on Facebook

Interested to know what racing yacht Facebook profile you love and why.

What makes a good Facebook page? Lots of content? Lots of photos? Videos?

What do you loathe in a yachting profile?

Or simply don't care??

I think status updates with info and photos etc mid offshore race or delivery is cool.

It's the cunning way Morgan Stanley find out who are the biggest muppets in their client base.

Ha, winner.

I keep a page for my boat so that my other friends who have no interest in the boat(yes, there are people like that!) don't have to read what I post. Also for the crew to have a forum to post on, but they don't much.

Who's Morgan Stanley?

A bank.

And Morgan is J.P. Morgan, who famously said about yacht ownership "If you have to ask, you can't afford it."

Its a chick thing, don't worry about it.

Uh, you might want to have another look..

Don't worry MH it is where no accounts talk themselves up and think they they are important.

I have heard about it.

LOVE the shot of the owner when they reached 2001 hits! Gold. Thanks for sharing, will keep an eye on that one..

Do you think people like to see regular updates? Or only updates when there is sailing and it's live (or close to being live?)

I just like boats having Facebook pages because lots of cool info pops up that you don't really find elsewhere during a race. Its just so easy to make a quick update or post a photo when your course takes you back into cell range for a brief moment. I think the only two I follow are Evolution and Peerless. I can wait for info on the folks I don't know to show up here, but it's amusing to find out what friends are up to.

Constant updates while the boat is on the trailer or on the hard would be classic (I'm thinking go-pro live stream of boat in shrink wrap = awesome facebook content)

There exists a place in this world where the sailing season ends and it gets cold....and people have to *sniff* put their boats away...

Scary stuff, I know.

Only time I almost went over was because there was half an inch of snow on deck and the jib had more traction on the wind than I did on the deck.

"ReignMaker is a C&C 37/40 XL Sailboat, that is raced by the best sailors in the northwest."

Really?

It's cool to see new yachting pages - thanks for sharing.

We are running a small advert to see what it yields - so far our 'likers' have increased by nearly 60 since the advert published.

Just need to go yachting now to have more content to post!

Cheers

(PM me if you want the page name to take a look)
