      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Liquipel for iPhone - anyone using it?

Recommended Posts

https://www.liquipel.com/in-action/

It's some sort of covering that you can't see or feel, and can apparently protect your phone from accidental immersion.

I've been using a Lifeproof case, and it's pretty good - it has protected my phone from water, and accidental drops. It's not too bulky, so I never take it off.

The one problem I have with the Lifeproof, is that when the screen cover is wet, like in the rain, the screen doesn't respond well to my touch.

Well, on reading more about this, it turns out that the Liquipel is really only intended to protect against _accidental_ exposure..., it's not meant for situations where you are pretty sure your phone is going to get wet.

Sounds good, however I called them a few months ago and it seems they aren't really geared up to take my phone, commit to a turnaround and ship it back, despite what they advertise.

I also asked if their coating has any negative affect on conductivity in the headphone port or power port, or heat dissipation. They couldn't provide an answer.

Lifeproof case.

Highly recommended.

I had one for my 4 that was great, waiting for the Iphone 5 model.

I had a look as well and from what i can see, they put out all these images/videos of #liquipelled' phones being splashed, submerged or used with water and when you read their instructions they state that phones should not come into contact with any form of liquids and if it does then you should take it apart and dry out. Sounds like it is the same solution people are already using when they have water damage. Perhaps a waste of US$60 i think?

Well, in my first post, i mentioned that i have a LifeProof - I also think they are great.

Except..., that when it's raining, and the screen is wet, i have trouble operating the phone. I swipe my finger across the screen, and sometimes nothing happens.

Well I just got back from GITEX where Liquipel had a booth... and while its supposedly aimed at only "accidental" immersion, they were showing off the top of their line (they have 3 products) with an iPad in a continual stream from a showerhead.

And it worked even after a week of that treatment.

That said, what I would do is get an older smartphone and try it on that first.
