      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

translated a bit more sanely:

"Having left Cadix for a singlehanded record attempt on the Route de la Découverte (The Discovery Course) in direction of the Bahamas, Thomas Coville tonight has decided to give in to the advice of his doctors after an injury to his left leg which doesn't develop well. The doctors fear that it's getting worse and foresee consequences for my long term recovery. As I'm not far from the Azores I will it would be a wise decision to change my course. It's a shame because I felt really good on this boat, now totally changed on downwind. This training interested me a lot even if the record of the Découverte isn't at the center of the program with Sodebo. »

Coville will heal and have another go at this Francis Joyon, East to West, Atlantic record. Additionally, he's planning a fresh attempt on the solo round the world record, also held by Joyon, late this year. Lots going on in the Sodeb'O camp in La Trinite sur Mer.

know just how he feels

tore some log muscle fibre the other day and trying to ignore it and carry on walking just made it worse

sleeping was a nightmare

finally went to the doctor and he strapped it up and put me on crutches and told me to stay as immobile as possible

next day pain was reduced and you could feel the healing begin

you don't want injuries like that when you are alone in the middle of the ocean

Coville was met in the Azores by his Sodeb'O team, his wife and local doctors. He's flying back to France after a checkup at the hospital and the team has already left for France on the big trimaran. Now, it's just a recovery process to see if he can get healed in time for a standby period in advance of his scheduled RTW attempt later in the Fall. Staying in shape could be interesting.
