      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

Well, we have Benghazi, the Justice Dept./AP affair, and Sibelius kinda sorta shaking down the insurance companies that she's going to help regulate ( nice insurance company you have there. Be too bad if something bad happened to it. BTW - you didn't build that). That's enough to keep several news organizations busy.

And if anyone feels left out or was a bit slow out of the gate on these latest revelations, there's always Fast and Furious which could use a revisiting and some real digging ...

There are those that think quantity, no matter the validity, replaces quality.

I just wanted to bring that up.

May I suggest "Blame It on Barack Obama" to the tune of "Blame it on the Bossa Nova"

It should be a huge hit especially with those who still suffer from the rash of wearing their Bush Supporter too long.

Well, the blame on bush seems to have lasted for about 13 years now. It's time for a new model.

Sorry Saorsa, forgot about that one in all the hurly-burly.

I'm not going to the birthplace thing - I figure some last-to-the-table reporter will resurrect it in a few months when some other stuff starts to stick and maybe a few folks do the perp walk.

I do not agree with many of the present admin's policies and think that the President is far too ideologically driven ( by philosophies I find unsettling) but a full bore impeachment and conviction followed by removal would be bad for the country. Far better that the perps be ousted and the truly guilty punished appropriately and that he spend his declining days in office as an example of hubris. Followed by a quiet exit to an ignored retirement. He's still_probably_ better than "President Biden" and may indeed be depending on that to save himself.

Of course if the republicans can dig up enough stuff on Joe and strip him off like Agnew ...

The above of course depends on how irritAted the MSM are with the IRS and AP phone records things. The press selected and elected Obama, but have been feeling neglected of late. If he's willing to give some pressers and deign to kiss a few whatevers they'll likely make up n

Dingdingdingding! Just a few polls in and we hear _that_ fleer.

What do you call it when a government agency selectively targets a group for harassment? If it's Jewish conservative and pro-Israel groups that's anti-Semitism and (wait for it...)

RAAAAAAAAAAAAACIST.

This should trigger an appearance by Gator. You wanna be on the same side as Gator, Gouv?

That's an interesting question, even though I'm not a Birther. (Ps: I didn't inhale.)

The only people bringing up the birther thing are Obama supporters, it is pretty obvious why, at least to me.

When policy panders to the same small audience, expect people to notice. The Benghazi circus isn't about making diplomats safer, that investigation and report was done long ago. This silliness is about pandering to roughly the same audience that thought (thinks?) Obummer is a Kenyan, and that demanding that he release his original birth certificate after he had long-since released a copy was an appropriate request.

AP issue? Could be a scandal. IRS? Could be a scandal. Benghazi ver. 2013? Circus act.

And Obama's the one wearing the size 26 red shoes.

I agree that nothing being discussed right now has anything to do with security. Hopefully some valuable lessons were learned. At this point it is about the administration lying about what hapenned and why.

Do you think there should be a statute of limitations on situations like this? A point at which if a lie hasn't been found out we should simply give a president a pass? That seems like it would encourage future presidents to lie even more than they have in the past.

Obama's been very good at deflection, but will he be able to juggle this many crises at once? Time will tell.

Some of his pals in the media don't seem too keen on turning a blind eye and as things heat up even more I would expect to see some of his friends on the Hill distance themselves to try and survive the midterms.

You gotta admit, a closed door press briefing from the most tranparent administration ever, ever, EVER is fucking hilarious.

You see, I think its a devious plan.

Put all these bullshit scandals out so the GOP gets distracted while they (Obama and his minions) work on really bad stuff.

Let the loons scream, while the real work continues. total smoke screen.

Its brilliant I say. Brilliant.

Face it loons, you have been played.

Haven't heard about that one in awhile. Issa's Part 3 of the fourth report of the results of the 12th round of investigations should have been complete by now. Has something happened to Tom?

Like the Inspector General, the Oversight Committee has been denied access to individuals and documents, but the problem is that they keep asking, not the lack of sunshine, huh?

The current story is the lawsuit over that power struggle. Update here:

The question is - is he as good as Clinton was at dealing with the manufactured crisis and bogus fabricated scandals?

Hopefully better, because I was disappointed how time much Clinton dealing with Newt's political schemes instead of running the country.

It's not winning the competition for coverage anymore. Displaced by some pretty silly stuff too. Not sure if that is meaningful or not, it's hard to imagine FOX going over to the Dark Side.

If I saw a lot of folks quoting scripture to make a point, that might be good.

Unfortunately, nobody is doing that. Seems the atheists want to argue against a point nobody is raising.

Pretty dumb, eh?

If you don't believe the Bible is the word of God, you shouldn't be allowed to read it, much less cite it.
