      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

The deputy commander of U.S. nuclear forces, Vice Adm. Tim Giardina, was notified Wednesday that he has been relieved of duty amid a military investigation of allegations that he used counterfeit chips at an Iowa casino, the Navy said.

The move is exceedingly rare and perhaps unprecedented in the history of U.S. Strategic Command, which is responsible for all American nuclear warfighting forces, including nuclear-armed submarines, bombers and land-based missiles.

The Navy's top spokesman, Rear Adm. John Kirby, said Giardina, who had held the job since December 2011, is being reassigned to the Navy staff pending the outcome of the probe by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. The gambling matter originated as a local law enforcement investigation in Iowa in June.

Fake chips? No sex? Just $1500?

Not in the article is that 3 star is a rank that goes with specific jobs and losing the job means with losing the star immediately and retiring (and he will be retiring) at the lower grade. About 1900/month in reduced pay right now and a $1600 reduction in pension for the rest of his life. That's assuming he doesn't get further hits due to a conviction for the fake chips (fraud, intention to defraud, conduct unbecoming and possible a few more).

Not a prime candidate Rico. Quite possibly the leading candidate. I month reduction in pay covers all the fake chips. The lifetime reduction is the dumb shit fine.

Hmmm...

There have been a lot of flag officers relieved of duty lately, mostly for unusual issues.

I probably just have my tinfoil cowboy hat screwed on too tight...

Air Force just fired the nuclear missile operational commander. Tough week to have you finger on the button.

For fair play: there've been a number of civilian CEOs and executives removed (or who should have been removed) lately for trivial bits of stupidity as well. This ones pretty high on that list to me:

some bizarre failure of the elite.

Thanks for the enlightenment. Coolest thing I learned today.

sad that in your elder years you have to resort to hookers and blow for a little pick you up

I was talking about the former General. I've never paid for Rental Units or Nose Candy. It's sad that you need Viagra to get it up for your Tebow mannequin.

That is EXACTLY the problem. We have devolved to the point we either ignore or don't pay attention to the behavior of elected officials. Or even worse - so long as they sing my song, I'm good with any obstructive unethical behavior.

Wow. The general with the fake chips or the multimillionaire switching bar codes at Target? It's really a tough race, but I agree with the earlier comment that the general probably has a "gambling addiction." It's a type of adrenalin junky and using fake chips was not about greed but about the thrill.

The executive switching bar codes? WTF is that?

The Lego addict would stick homemade bar codes on boxes so he could buy them at a cheaper price before selling them off at the original, higher value.

....

Investigators were tipped off about his children's toy fetish in 2012 and found eight Ziploc baggies with dozens of bar code stickers in his car.

They also found "many, many sets of Legos that he had built" at his luxurious San Jose home south of San Francisco.

"Lego addict" or "fetish" doesn't really explain it. He liked them. Adults play with model trains and boats too. Most don't steal them.

It can't be the money. He apparently netted $30k, which is a pretty good pile of money, but he could have made more legally.

Another thrillseeker? Switching bar codes is a pretty subtle thrill.

WTF is wrong with that guy?

How dumb are the store clerks that they don't think it is odd that someone pays $50 for a huge box like the Millennium Falcon?
