      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

So, let's say I want to print out a thread for storage on a removable drive so I can refer back to it and not worry about the buggar being deleted down the road...

Under VBulletin's forum programmes there is a tab for "Forum Actions" and one of the sub-menus is "Show Printable Version", which gives you each page in succession which may be saved, one at a time.

I can't find any such function for the IP forum software and am wondering if I'm just missing it or if each "page" of posts in a thread must be saved in the viewing format.

(Clear as mud, innit? Do ask if confused. I did because I am!)

I'm old and slow... don't see what you're talking about.

Trovão: Nice try, but I want to download and save the page to my HDD as an (htm) and (php) file for future reference, NOT insert a link to the page in question. The difference being that once the page is modified or deleted on the original site, the link becomes invalid.

Mad: Thanks. Singularly unhelpful. You try it.

4knotSB: My problem with seeing what you were talking about revelaed itself when I chanced to sign in using Internet Destroyer instead of Firefox. IE does, indeed, show a line of tools directly under the reply box which Mozilla based browsers do not read or show. Once I signed in with IE it came up on screen, but I STILL have a problem:

When using the "download" button, nothing happens, no matter how long I wait. If I go to FILE; SAVE PAGE AS in the top bar, it does try to save the page, but 80% is a black area with only a very small portion as readable text.

ANy ideas on that? (WIN7-64b , WIN7 32b AND WIN-XP3!)
