It’s a sailboat now.  If you don’t believe me, just try to dock it...

Looks like George Jetson landed the family hover car on the boat.

You would think.  I had a dock neighbor with a similar monstrosity. With bow and stern thrusters he could park the boat on a dime.

Nice guy in spite of his horrible taste in boats.

Yup. Makes a MacGregor or Hunters look good. Crappy build, not just the design. Call her the Chopper Gun Queen.

I bring to the table for a discussion a Unicorn, a double dodger on a Merit 28:

This is a dodger, within a dodger.   I think someone had an imagination of being either being a mini Class40, doing the single-handed Transpac or just plain does not like getting water down below.

What a great thread, it's a shame some of the links are no longer active.

This one stole my heart, it's a work of art.

It's a dodger protruding from a dodger, or maybe a dodger funnel.

That thing on deck is billed as a bow sprit. Mounted on something rusty.

It should be brought to the attention of the Society IMO but I have nominated enough powerboats.

I admire the large swim platform and the recognition that the flybridge is the place to be on one of these so it might as well be big and comfortable. Judging by the bulbous shape, there should not be any place I can bump my head.

A recursive dodger formula!

The bow sprit mount is pre-planned unexpected entertainment.

They have succeeded in making an ugly boat not only uglier, but far worse to sail. I'd consider that a lose/lose.

So F'd up!  :o  I mean, a "pop top" on a boat that size?  But it doesn't even fit down onto the hull!  Why is that life raft there?  And what's all that shit on the stern?

The only thing that looks comfortable there is the cardboard seat UNDER the boat.

The circular object at the stern looks like a viking shield.

Shows the differences in visualization - I was thinking how bad it would be to have to bang that after toiling on the farm

I have an uncle who survived unhurt after being run over by a tractor when he was a kid. The ground was soft enough and the tire big enough that it sort of just squished him into the ground. That would not work with those...

Lapsing into dream-quest mode, I made another search for old Nordic 44s and 40s.

Then I came upon this

WOW - that gem appears to have every amateur ferro mistake there was - 27' - really well able to absorb the extra weight, molded in ferro bowsprit, wiggly sheer, ferro deck & cabin by the look of it, incredibly crappy tabernacle, incredibly crappy dodger.....

I'd love to see the interior. I'd wager that everything was built "a little stronger, a little beefier" than the plans dictated.

"Very stable" -  It just sits there.

It's a duck blind for hunting rummage sale scroungers. You litter the deck with junk to lure them in, like goose decoys, while you crouch in the non-descript enclosure. When they get close enuf to start turning over price tags -- blammo.
