They use a machine to do it?

I still say they shouldn't have re-engraved.

Bit of news from Matteo de Nora

"It is true that among you and Patrizio Bertelli, the owner of Luna Rossa and CEO of Prada, there is disagreement as he wanted to return to the monohull but you surprised him taking the design of the boat to the extreme?  “We all wanted a return to the monohull and to a boat with a high technical value: to end up with foils was the automatic consequence. Disagreement? I have not seen Bertelli in a while, but if there was any issue with him I would have known”.

The claim that Bertelli was surprised by the boat selection is pure speculation and strains credulity.

I have two question marks about De Nora interview:

- Why does he claim everything is right if he did not discuss with the Italians for a long time ? There must be reason.

- The new boat will be stable, how does he know that, mainly after the Brit test boat crashes ?

1) Because Bertelli has a history of throwing his toys when he doesn't get his way. If things weren't "Right" They would surely know by now. Bertelli would've thrown his toys, and there would be a noticeable rift whether publicly or internally, between Challenger and Defender, but we're not seeing that.

2) Because the brit test boat is a long way from the AC75. It was never designed, or intended for the type of performance it is displaying. The AC75 is/ will be designed for, and purpose built with the intent and purpose the designers imagined for it. There's a huge difference.

"it takes 15 seconds to recharge it and then we are ready to tack the boat"

Reminds me of the desperate call for "hydro, Hydro..." in San Francisco when NZ was on the ragged edge of capsizing.

Or that time in Bermuda in Race 2 of the Cup match when Oracle came right back into it at the top mark only to stall in a gybe and ETNZ blew out to a 500 metre lead in about 10 seconds.

From vacuumer to America’s Cup boss

True story: Tina Symmans was the woman at the end of the vacuum cleaner in Emirates Team New Zealand’s base in Bermuda last year. And now she’s in charge of running the 2021 America’s Cup in Auckland.

“One of the things Grant [Dalton] was really determined to have – and we will deliver – is free-to-air coverage of the racing, and free entry to the event - in Bermuda it cost a fortune to get in. So it’s really inclusive, and there’s something for everyone.

Still no word on if LR will launch a test boat?

Maybe they are buying ETNZ’s designs and are therefore following the same development path.

A few days ago you were assuring us ETNZ had a test boat, now what? You've leap-frogged to the next bit of tinfoil hat(e)tery :(

Or maybe they've adopted the same thinking the Kiwi's have. Test boats are a costly, and somewhat unnecessary use of resource when simulators fulfill their requirements.

No news, according to FareVela. Still, Max Sirena said their test boat was coming soon quite a while ago, and McConaghy hulls were supposed to be used by “a couple of teams”

They are in quandry as to whether to go for golden (too presumptuos perhaps) or silver (kind of like admitting to being second) for the spandex.

https://www.sparknz.co.nz/news/emirates-5G/

The America’s Cup is as much a technology race as it is a yacht race. We know the scope for 5G technology to help make the boat go faster is significant.”

Access to the 5G network and its reduced latency and higher bandwidth means that through the on-water testing stage the Emirates Team New Zealand designers back at base will be able to get data and analytics in real-time.

“This will make a huge difference. In Bermuda our designers had to spend hundreds of hours out on the water on chase boats close to the yacht in order to get data to then upload and analyse once they were back on shore. From there, they would look at what needed to be done for the next test day.

“With 5G our design-thinking can evolve faster, allowing us to explore more design options and buy us more of one of the most precious commodities in the America’s Cup – time. This could be a game changer for us,” said Bernasconi.
