      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

Costa Rica's strategy was to not play football but to survive long enough to go to a penalty shootout, little did they know that the Dutch had an ace up their sleeve in the form of a specialized penalty killing substitute goalie.

Brilliant move by the coach.

True, but all credit to CR for the effort

Considering the talent pool in a country as small as CR, they were bloody awesome.

Talk about coaching talent, the way that back line moved as a unit totally crippled Van Persie.

How many times did they have him offside ? 12, 15 ?

Navas, the goalie was superb for 120 minutes

They very nearly killed off the goliath.

Robben is just orange lightning. Most exciting player in the Cup

Anyone have an idea what the odds were of Brazil being down by 5 at the half?

I think i heard the announcer state that Brazil had never trailed by 4 goals, ever in the history of the World Cup.

Our loss to Germany certainly doesn't look so bad now, Brazil..just getting toyed with.

Yep truly astonishing result. I was stunned at the 30 min mark. Still a bit numb 7 hours later.

Germany have certainly put down a marker but somehow methinks the Argentine or Dutch defence will be a lot more solid and they both have formidable game-changing firepower up front. Should be a fascinating semi tonight. My money is still on Argentina and if they get through I reckon they'll beat Germany.

Having said that I reckon the Brazillians would like nothing better than the Dutch to firstly beat Argentina tonight then take down Germany in the final on Sunday.

Losing 7-1 is bad enough but seeing Argentina win the World Cup on Brazillian soil will be just too much to take.

One tackle has changed the complexion of this World Cup sooo much, well two actually if you include Silva's "tackle" on The Columbian keeper a foul.

While the score was seven -nil the Germans were not even trying to score more. They just kicked the ball around and when they all gathered too close to the Brazil goal one of the Germans would just kick the call out of bounds without really trying to organize a goal. H

In fact goal seven seemed like a reprisal for a Brazilian attempt after Germany was obviously just politely burning clock after goal six

Whatever was going on this day was much more of a heat down than the score indicates

I think the Germans could have gone to 12

And if Argentina loses their semi, guess who they play in the game for third? And if Brazil loses that game? Not a fun time to be a Brazilian fan...ouch.

"We haven't seen a German offensive like that since 1939" is the line going around facebook, have to feel for Brazil, they will have the empty stadiums they couldn't afford to begin with to remind them for years to come. Allowing FIFA in was already a flash point of controversy, now there is a dagger to go with it.

Have to respect the Germans late, after the seventh goal they pretty much started to celebrate, then obviously just stopped out of pity/respect.

You sir; Albany guy are truly a great representative of how skullfuckery dumb most Americans are about soccer. Please keep to the NFL, and NBA. I'd throw the MLB in there but I'd guess to say you cannot understand the infield fly rule.

This was a victory of planning, teamwork, discipline over improvisation and strong dependence on individual talent. Period.

After holding the Germans to a single touchdown and an extra point the Brazilians did even better against the Netherlands, holding them to only a dingiest field goal.

Brazi fielded the same defense. The ref made sure he could walk down any street in brazil after the game. Even with the home field advantage team brazil came off as thugs and poor losers.

Pretty obvious Brazil played the game with the mind set that it was the last game and a yellow card meant nothing. Then the refs looked the other way a lot.

Interesting yellow for diving though.

first card? of the tournament for diving.. and it's an obvious, real, PK.

strange rhythm to the tournament, high scoring free flowing group stage, boring deadlocks (except the Brasil implosion) in the knockout phase.

They were also a bit lucky in that Argentina missed some pretty easy shots. But it's cool that Germany won.

Both teams had good chances, if Messi had some one to pass to ARG would be far more threatening and that deficiency is the only thing i saw separating the two teams. Germany was able to slide three guys on him without getting burnt.

Watching ARG on the attack it just looked as though every other player was running behind a screen as the guy with the ball was separated and for whatever reason the wingers didn't rotate around for a drop. I may be far off with that, just watching as a hockey fan that shit just didn't look right. Honestly i have been wondering about why drop passes don't seem happen much for most of the tournament, maybe it only works at terrible amateur level which is exactly the level i have played. The winning strat was to drop pass to the hardest kicker we had to shoot on goal then score on the rebound, but as i said we were horrible, all the way to taking the division title.

Ready to see the real football season start up.

Good game. Glad it was settled with a righteous goal. Fuck the thug agentine guys who concussed one german and punched another. I would say the same no matter who did it. Argentina should have been playing two men down.

I'm just glad I turned it on at minute 91. Eek, such conservative boredom. Like watching Olympic Tae Kwon Do. Only defensive moves are winners...

Just so you know, it's been worse, way worse. This was either most goals ever scored in the tournament or tied for first.
