      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

B&G Zeus and NMEA 0183

Recommended Posts

Does anybody have a B&g Zeus yet and have it working with 0183 data? I am getting conflicting info on whether the SailSteer functions will work with incoming NMEA 0183 wind data or whether or not it requires data from a Triton wind instrument. I'd like to replace everything, but can't right now, but I would like to add the Zeus and use my existing instruments.

I've searched the B&G web site and read the on-line manuals and talked to a B&G dealer and I haven't got a clear answer on whether the B&G wind is required. The dealer has only installed a Zeus with Triton's.

There are 2 NMEA 0183 ports that have both in and out so I was hoping it would take the muxed 0183 data stream from all my instruments and just work.

I had it set up on a RIB a couple of years ago with NMEA0183 wind data, and it worked fine. Just need to make sure you do all your source selection correctly.

I thought the SailSteer function was new? Thanks for the info.

Two Zeus T7s installed recently on the boat I sail on take the 0183 data from the H2000 performance processor, sail steer and all other features work fine. Wouldn't have thought it would only work with data from Tritons. Sail Steer is new but will work with 0183 or N2K from what I understand.

The B&G tech support over here (Australia & NZ) are pretty good to deal with and have emailed system wiring diagrams to me when requested.

B&G have a system builder ipad app that helps you design a system and shows all the connectivity. Your dealer should be able to access it.

Great thanks. Exactly what I was looking for. It didn't seem to make sense to me either but a dealer (not the one in my marina) told me I had to use the Triton wind. Just wanted to hear it from someone who has done it.
