      A Few Simple Rules   05/22/2017

Sailing Anarchy is a very lightly moderated site. This is by design, to afford a more free atmosphere for discussion. There are plenty of sailing forums you can go to where swearing isn't allowed, confrontation is squelched and, and you can have a moderator finger-wag at you for your attitude. SA tries to avoid that and allow for more adult behavior without moderators editing your posts and whacking knuckles with rulers. We don't have a long list of published "thou shalt nots" either, and this is by design. Too many absolute rules paints us into too many corners. So check the Terms of Service - there IS language there about certain types of behavior that is not permitted. We interpret that lightly and permit a lot of latitude, but we DO reserve the right to take action when something is too extreme to tolerate (too racist, graphic, violent, misogynistic, etc.). Yes, that is subjective, but it allows us discretion. Avoiding a laundry list of rules allows for freedom; don't abuse it. However there ARE a few basic rules that will earn you a suspension, and apparently a brief refresher is in order. 1) Allegations of pedophilia - there is no tolerance for this. So if you make allegations, jokes, innuendo or suggestions about child molestation, child pornography, abuse or inappropriate behavior with minors etc. about someone on this board you will get a time out. This is pretty much automatic; this behavior can have real world effect and is not acceptable. Obviously the subject is not banned when discussion of it is apropos, e.g. talking about an item in the news for instance. But allegations or references directed at or about another poster is verboten. 2) Outing people - providing real world identifiable information about users on the forums who prefer to remain anonymous. Yes, some of us post with our real names - not a problem to use them. However many do NOT, and if you find out someone's name keep it to yourself, first or last. This also goes for other identifying information too - employer information etc. You don't need too many pieces of data to figure out who someone really is these days. Depending on severity you might get anything from a scolding to a suspension - so don't do it. I know it can be confusing sometimes for newcomers, as SA has been around almost twenty years and there are some people that throw their real names around and their current Display Name may not match the name they have out in the public. But if in doubt, you don't want to accidentally out some one so use caution, even if it's a personal friend of yours in real life. 3) Posting While Suspended - If you've earned a timeout (these are fairly rare and hard to get), please observe the suspension. If you create a new account (a "Sock Puppet") and return to the forums to post with it before your suspension is up you WILL get more time added to your original suspension and lose your Socks. This behavior may result a permanent ban, since it shows you have zero respect for the few rules we have and the moderating team that is tasked with supporting them. Check the Terms of Service you agreed to; they apply to the individual agreeing, not the account you created, so don't try to Sea Lawyer us if you get caught. Just don't do it. Those are the three that will almost certainly get you into some trouble. IF YOU SEE SOMEONE DO ONE OF THESE THINGS, please do the following: Refrain from quoting the offending text, it makes the thread cleanup a pain in the rear Press the Report button; it is by far the best way to notify Admins as we will get e-mails. Calling out for Admins in the middle of threads, sending us PM's, etc. - there is no guarantee we will get those in a timely fashion. There are multiple Moderators in multiple time zones around the world, and anyone one of us can handle the Report and all of us will be notified about it. But if you PM one Mod directly and he's off line, the problem will get dealt with much more slowly. Other behaviors that you might want to think twice before doing include: Intentionally disrupting threads and discussions repeatedly. Off topic/content free trolling in threads to disrupt dialog Stalking users around the forums with the intent to disrupt content and discussion Repeated posting of overly graphic or scatological porn content. There are plenty web sites for you to get your freak on, don't do it here. And a brief note to Newbies... No, we will not ban people or censor them for dropping F-bombs on you, using foul language, etc. so please don't report it when one of our members gives you a greeting you may find shocking. We do our best not to censor content here and playing swearword police is not in our job descriptions. Sailing Anarchy is more like a bar than a classroom, so handle it like you would meeting someone a little coarse - don't look for the teacher. Thanks.

As signing day approaches, what is the view on poaching committed players from other schools?. Fair game until they sign the letter of intent, or underhanded?.

Par for the course in this day and age, I'm afraid. I've been spending a good bit of time in Gainesville these days for my PT, so I've been hearing about comings and goings there. Official visits this weekend by guys who are verbally committed elsewhere. Nature of the beast. The new coach needs to sell the program and the new $15 million indoor practice facility they announced just after his hire. I'm sure it's no different anywhere else.

Clemson signing day, all 26 LOI's faxed in by 9:30am... top 10 class... no big signing events by the players... no big media deals.. that's how it should be done, recruiting the right people..

“We definitely got better today as a team and as a program,” Swinney said. “That's what recruiting is all about - not just bringing in guys but the right guys into your program and I think we were able to do that. For me, it never gets old and it's always exciting to see guys buy in and choose to be a part of what you do and how you do it. All of these guys that chose to come to Clemson today, they had many, many, many options and for them to choose to come be a part of our program is just very exciting to me because I know they're coming for the right reasons. I can't wait to get started. I appreciate these guys but I also appreciate their parents and all of their families for buying into the vision of our program and just believing in Clemson and who we are. I'm really excited to welcome all of them to the Clemson family.”

as opposed that pos petrino

Three-star Dutch Fork HS running back Matt Colburn, South Carolina's Mr. Football, had been committed to the Cardinals since June. Two days before National Signing Day, Louisville inside linebackers coach Tony Grantham—not even Petrino himself—called Colburn to tell him they were rescinding his scholarship, citing a need for more defensive backs on the squad. Instead, they offered Colburn a grayshirt opportunity: Sit out this season, don't start school until next semester, and maybe get a shot next year. After eight months assuming he had a team, Colburn would have been left with a promise from a program that already broke one.

spurrier is thinking about retiring sooner...

Four-star defensive end signee Shameik Blackshear was booked into Beaufort County (S.C.) Detention Center Friday afternoon and released Saturday morning. Per The State, a Bluffton Police Department spokesman said Blackshear has been accused of stealing a purse and a safe from a Mill Creek home.

The home's owner valued the purse and safe's contents at $1,390.

In a statement, a South Carolina spokesperson said the school is "aware of the situation and will let the legal process work its way out."

Blackshear issued an unapologetic message on his Instagram feed Sunday, writing, verbatim, "Still carolina bound and ya allll still mad ... Hate on me when im on YOUR tv real soon. GOD BLESS."

Speaking of College Football..... how cool is it that the CFB season is just around the corner?!?!?

I would just like to point out that Air Force (29) is ranked well above the FL Gaytors (41) in this CBS poll.

Anyone want to make some early predictions for the 4 teams that make the playoffs?

1. OSU gets in only because their SOS is a cake walk.

2. Alabama gets in because..... they are Bama.

3. USC (west) is a the long shot sleeper this year.

4. Oregon or Baylor

Usually, when two historically great programs have an early season meeting folks talk about the winner being a contender for the big crown. The loser is unharmed by the "quality loss"

I am disappointed by what I see for the Texas Notre Dsme opening contest:

Loser may totally suck

Listening to reports on practices and team social problems does not give me much confidence the Texas team will be back at historic performance level this season. They play Notre Dame right out of the chute and a crushing defeat might set up another very bad year

If Notre Dame loses to Texas I see their season as on the rocks as well

Surprisingly, I don't see a win as meaning much for either team but a Texas win would certainly help Charlie Strong keep his job a while longer

Ohio State won last year with a bunch of young players and virtually everybody returns if they don't win it all I'll be surprised

So what's the prognosis for SC this year? I would like to see them do well.

Well, that's the question, isn't it....

USC is finally past the NCAA Death Penalty and Kiffen's wife, so... The team is still being hurt by all the scholarship reductions, so it's not as deep as it should be. Still, they've had excellent recruiting classes, Kessler's back for his Senior year, Sark is doing a great job on and off the field, and by all accounts, the team is jelling well. However, it's a bit shallow and young. Meownself, I see USC winning Pac 12 South, and challenging for the title and playoffs. Call it a 1 - 2 loss season.

And VERY entertaining!

Spot on, Brother.

I see potential losses to Oregon (road) and UCLA (home), maybe one of the AZ schools as well. Pac 12 South is pretty tough right now. Anything more than 9 wins and a top bowl game will be considered a successful season. Our non conference games are dismal, Arky St and Idawhore, ND is the only redeeming non-conf game on the schedule.

Still can't see UCLA as anything but a pretender... A weakness, I know. And the 'Zonas always seem to find a way to shoot themselves in the ass. So, I see South as ripe for the taking. If.... USC can stay healthy. Last I heard, Berserkerly <spit> and Stanford <spit> are both looking to have good seasons - any further word? Nota Damn seems poised to have a great year.

Winning the Pac 12 South is going to be tough, whoever does it should get National attention. FUCLA brings back a shitload of players so don't count them out just because Hundley left.

This year's defense needs to show they can stop a drive in the 4th quarter before I get on the bandwagon.

To paraphrase the original post...It should be very entertaining.

Mr. Charlie,

I hope that your prediction of an AZ school shooting themselves in the ass is fools folly as we do not live anywhere near East LA. However, may your boys stay safe in their surroundings.

I look forward to an exciting season that mimics last (Remember that game? The catch? With our back-up quarterback?) and hope that your Alma Mater and boys do well.

Sincerely,

FD

I haven't decided who to root for this year. Since my alma mater really has no CFB program - I always have to randomly search around for a team to watch for a season. Once upon a time it was TX when VY was there. But they've sucked worse than BG does on a friday night in a transvestite bar.

I do like SC - but they've been mediocre since that TX-SC NC game back in 05-06.

I tend to gravitate to the SEC, being from the south. Its weird, I grew up in Miami and lived in FL for many years - but I have zero love for any of the FL teams. HWSNBN turned me off completely to UFag, The U has always been a bunch of thugs, and FSU..... meh I think I just hate the tomahawk chop. It annoys me.

On any given Saturday - I find myself cheering for AL, LSU, Auburn, Ark, USC (east) and GA. And Clemson as an outlier. I feel they have quality and classy programs.

I'm just sad that I don't have a single team that I year in and year out follow. My ex was an ardent and fanatical WVU fan and I did get into their program for a while when Dick Rod got them to national prominence. But even that has faded.

Now if only the Miami Dolphins didn't suck so bad, I might even start watching NFL again. But they've been dead to me for a long time......

GW is still undefeated - so maybe I should jump on that bandwagon finally.

I punched that bitch right in the face with out thinking,(the boss, not my wife). The Judge understood after reading HWSNBN posts and let me off with house arrest for 1 month and having to watch the SEC channel the rest of the season. I'm doing better after the 12 step program and signing HWSNBN up every magazine subscription I could find in the periodical section of Barnes & Nobel. The wife has a new job and the Trojans are out of sanctions. Life is good.

Dawgs don't have a QB picked yet so my excitement is tempered till I see who is handing the ball off to Chubb. But our o-line and defense should be steller to go along with the best stable of running backs in the country.

If Mizzou sneaks into the SEC championship again this year I will be sick. Last year we beat them 35-0 yet they were the rep from the east because of Mark Richts brain fart against FU and a very easy Mizzou schedule. This year UGA plays Alabama and Auburn from the SEC West and Mizzou plays Mississippi State and Arkansas, not quite the same thing.

She sat a couple of rows in front of me at a game a couple of years ago. It was pretty pathetic the way she was trying to convince the fans that they really needed to yell louder and cheer more so her husband's clueless play calling would triumph. It was kinda sad, but no doubt she was hot. Perhaps Lane was able to land her as she has all the intellect of a bag of hammers?

USC is finally past the NCAA Death Penalty and Kiffen's wife, so... The team is still being hurt by all the scholarship reductions, so it's not as deep as it should be. Still, they've had excellent recruiting classes, Kessler's back for his Senior year, Sark is doing a great job on and off the field, and by all accounts, the team is jelling well. However, it's a bit shallow and young. Meownself, I see USC winning Pac 12 South, and challenging for the title and playoffs. Call it a 1 - 2 loss season.

And VERY entertaining!

FightON!!!

just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water...

At last night’s Salute To Troy, USC coach Steve Sarkisian reportedly got wasted and yelled a whole bunch of profanities before getting pulled off the stage by athletic director Pat Haden

Whoops.

Apparently, pain-killers and booze mix far too well. Who knew? And... we've got a new cocktail; call it: The Sark F-Bomb.

Gonna have to try it. Kiffin's Trollop Dollop was gettin' a mite bit dated...

What is the bail status of the fine folks in Baton Rouge and Tallahassee? Did their linemen make it to practice?

You usually have to look to the Floriduh reformatories schools for this type of behavior. UCLA DB robs UBER driver on campus.

Of course, it is Westwood HIgh, Social Justice Warrior campus.

Five days till FightON!!!

Any predictions for Texas vs Notre Dame??

I am thinking it's either a close game or a Notre Dame blowout but I just don't see Texas blowing out Notre Dame

I predict a Strong hot seat if Texas does not improve big time. 9-3 with loses to ND, Oklahoma and TCU. If they also lose to Baylor and OkSU, he is fucked.

#2 TCU only won by one score against a good for Minnesota Minnesota team. Did not look like a #2 to me. well maybe it did..

That was a great game to watch. The Minnesota coach has some ties to Patterson, if memory serves, so he knows the system and how to give them fits.

Doesn't look like TCU will lose for a while, if they get past Texas. The last third of their season doesn't look easy. We'll prolly hear lots about them until then.
