Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC "following a fracas" with a producer.

The corporation said the presenter had been suspended "pending an investigation".

"No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday," it said.

Clarkson was given what he called his "final warning" last May after claims he used a racist word while filming the popular BBC motoring show.

At the time, he said the BBC had told him he would be sacked if he made "one more offensive remark, anywhere, at any time".

Way back when Clarkson did Top gear with people like Tiff Needell, Quentin Wilson and Vicki Butler-Henderson to name a few. Those days top gear was a real car show for the people as the new show often pokes fun at now. There were car reviews, news and a few gags but there was no showmanship.

Several presenters who went through the Top Gear mangle then started a show called Fifth Gear.

It is awful. terrible. Utter gubbins. That is what Top Gear would become if Jeremy Clarkson went.

IMHO Top Gear is past it's sell by date. It used be amusing but has gone stale for quite some time. The same old piss taking on each show. Time to move on.

 

As for Clarkson he was apparently drunk having delayed a helicopter by two hours while drinking in a pub. When they arrived late in the hotel all the crew had gone to bed except producer Oisin Tymon who had stayed up to greet them. The chefs had gone home and only cold food was available. Clarkson lost it and went into a rage telling Tymon he would see he was fired. He apparently called Tymon a "lazy Irish cunt" and punched him in the face splitting his lip. Tymon was taken to hospital. This saga was apparently all played out in public in front of other hotel guests. Tymon didn't report it to the BBC. Clarkson did it himself. Tymon is apparently getting hate emails and threats since the incident.

 

A friend of mine took his ten year old to one of the Top Gear roadshows. He met Clarkson May and Hammond after the show in a hotel. He said Clarkson and May were downright rude to anyone who approached them. Hammond was on the other hand an utter gentleman and signed autographs for the children. Just goes to show, never meet your heroes.....

On 9 March 2015, Jeremy Clarkson reported to BBC management that he had been involved in a physical and verbal incident with Oisin Tymon, the producer of Top Gear, at the Simonstone Hall Hotel, North Yorkshire, whilst working on location. The incident had occurred on 4 March 2015 and Jeremy Clarkson was suspended on 10 March, pending investigation.

 

I was asked to undertake an investigation to establish the facts of what occurred. In conducting my investigation, in line with the BBC’s usual practice, I interviewed a number of witnesses and others connected with the incident. Accounts were agreed, based on my interviews, with each participant.

 

Having conducted these interviews and considered the evidence presented, I conclude the following: on 4 March 2015 Oisin Tymon was subject to an unprovoked physical and verbal attack by Jeremy Clarkson. During the physical attack Oisin Tymon was struck, resulting in swelling and bleeding to his lip. The verbal abuse was sustained over a longer period, both at the time of the physical attack and subsequently.

 

Specific facts I have found as part of my investigation are as follows:

 earlier on 4 March, studio recording of Top Gear had taken place in Surrey and the presenters had travelled that same evening to the location shoot in North Yorkshire;

 the incident occurred on a patio area of the Simonstone Hall Hotel, where Oisin Tymon was working on location for Top Gear;

 the physical attack lasted around 30 seconds and was halted by the intervention of a witness;

 it is the case that Oisin Tymon offered no retaliation;

 the verbal abuse was directed at Oisin Tymon on more than one occasion – both during the attack and subsequently inside the hotel – and contained the strongest expletives and threats to sack him. The abuse was at such volume as to be heard in the dining room, and the shouting was audible in a hotel bedroom;

 derogatory and abusive language, relating to Oisin Tymon and other members of the Top Gear team, continued to be used by Jeremy Clarkson inside the hotel, in the presence of others, for a sustained period of time;

 it is clear that Oisin Tymon was shocked and distressed by the incident, and believed that he had lost his job;

 following the attack, I understand that Oisin Tymon drove to a nearby A&E department for examination;

 over the subsequent days, Jeremy Clarkson made a number of attempts to apologise to Oisin Tymon by way of text, email and in person; and

 it is the case that Jeremy Clarkson reported the incident to BBC management.

 

It was not disputed by Jeremy Clarkson or any witness that Oisin Tymon was the victim of an unprovoked physical and verbal attack. It is also clear to me that Oisin Tymon is an important creative member of the Top Gear team who is well-valued and respected. He has suffered significant personal distress as a result of this incident, through no fault of his own.

He shares the same love of cars with a sense of humour, perhaps better honed by US TV to avoid controversy... And I can see him working relatively well with May and Hammond...

Might do. Might not. There are many (me included) who think that the format was looking very tired indeed. If they take the opportunity to completely rethink it, the new-new TG might well rise phoenix-like from the ashes. Or it might not.

Tymon sounds like a little sissy ass who wouldn;t stand up for himself

Unless he wanted to retire or has another gig lined up that pays more then he just lost one of seemingly cooler jobs you could have as a car nut. Makes no sense to throw away that kind of job because you want to an asshole when you want to regardless of consequences.

 

We watch the show religiously at home and its one of the more entertaining and the popularity is warranted IMO. The original two Mythbusters are the only other guys that bring a natural delivery I can watch though their second team wasn't that bad.
