      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

so, were the boats in foiling configuration for this race, or is that still development mode only?

But with the coming MiniTransat 2017 pending Its going to be a young master of the older blunted bow that will be the one to watch

Ohhh, it's like a backwards Silver Bullet. Cat at one end and mono at the other.

That Tiller hullshpape is forbidden as far as I know the old rules.

the fleet photo gives me the chills again, damn the mini racing is the most vibrant offshore class.

Bloody exciting for sure. We just need the IMOCA60's heading in the right direction too. Drop the OD stuff and include a Proto class like the Minis.

Nice, thanks, did not know the keel angle change possibility.

And still working out sails...

Arkema came in 150-200 kg overweight.  That's a lot.

Specially for a foiler, but I am always suspicious about weights and minis :)

Why does the rule have a max weight? Is it to contain just putting more in the keel for righting moment? Would it be ok if the keels had max weights, but allow the hull or rig to carry more weight (assuming safety tests still maintained)?

A lot of mini racing isn't in conditions that otherwise naturally favour a heavy boat so I'd love to see more foil experiments if the skippers want to risk it.

No max weight rule, get them as light as possible is the norm.

These boats look like a bar of Dove soap in various stages of meltdown.

Heh! Kinda have to agree with you Raspa,

At least the Class 40's still look pretty sweet in comparison

Class 40 look like the little single use soaps in the motels... Actually I like the look of the 40's. Amazing what doubling the length does for the look of a boat!

Not sure about that origami dodger/companionway though. Needs some water to round off those sharp edges just like on a soap bar.

^^^^ I think that is Shaggys own boat and not Pogo's Class 40 version albeit they too are a bit shy in the topsides shelter department compared to others.

Hey JS,

Not mine mate, this is the S3. The 12.50 is the S2 mould. If you have a look at the freeboard on the rear quarters, you're flat out getting your head in there, way too aggressive for a cruiser variant.

Foredeck is also reverse camber to the sheer line, and the bow from front on looks like a scow bow compared to mine.

You guys are too used to organic shapes, folds are good, they give you strength.
