Now this is the look we like. But the question remains, "what is it"?

Didi 29 Retro by Dudley Dix? Although this one seems to have a reverse "destroyer" bow angle, and I think the Didi is vertical.

I like it.

it's vaguely reminiscent of St. Barbara by Sponberg, but the house is wrong.

Definitely has a Dudley Dix feel to it. Modern hull with a cabin similar to some of Herreshoff's, like on the NY30.

Whoa, I thought the cabin was on the power boat behind it, leaving a flush or open deck speedster until someone pointed out the prop shaft. Damn!

just to add some thread drift - doesnt the Elliot 35SS have a drive shaft like that instead of saildrive? someone must know which one provides less drag......

The new look of the Archambault M34 called GT.

There was something similar shown on the Bolg of on www.blur.se

On the basis it has a hull, you're bob on. It's when you look beyond that you run into trouble.

Matagi, you might be onto something - the picture's of a Yamila 13m, but there's also a 15m in the works. My german's rusty but I think it said it'd be at one of the boat shows this year. I couldn't find a line drawing of the 15m, but the 13m has a similar (but not identical) keel. Big difference is that the 13m I saw pictures of had an electric pod for propulsion, not a shaft like this one.

Looks like it was designed by committee.

One guy wanted a catboat

One wanted the 'axe bow'

One wanted a big stern overhang

The keel guy has never seen kelp or a lobster pot

The sheer guy went a little nuts.

Not attractive to my eye.

...I think that cabin might be on the boat behind, check the lifting straps. try again?

no. three boats in that picture. farthest away is a sailboat facing the opposite of the what is it boat, then the power boat, then what is it? That cabin is definitely on what is it.

Looks like it came off of a Choy Lee.

Here she floats

Looked better on the hard

Seriously, that looks terrible in the water.

if it lost like a foot of free-board and that battleship bow it wouldn't look too bad, a taller aspect rig wouldn't hurt either.

i agree. so maybe if the owner weighs 400 pounds, it will look quite charming...

Thread drift: why the hate on the shaft? Sail drives look like more drag to me.

For a retro look, David Reard'ss classics look much better :

I like it. It's a bit different and that's what is needed more than anything in a world full of mass produced white cruising slugs.

I like both boats. So many boats so little time

As for all the negative commenters: none of you have the stones to build or have built a boat.

You are sheep-like.

Didn't Kevin Dibley have something going on with this concept? Cool if it splashed. As I remember it needed a big cockpit, and a cruising interior - hence the freeboard.

What do I win?

Didn't quite happen. Would have been cool but client couldn't get it together. Shame really.
