      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Good racing on Saturday, no wind on Sunday. Second race called when we were finally in a good position.

More than the usual "cooler than you" guys at the SDYC afterparty.

Typical SD stuff.

Nothing like constantly getting fucked over by j70s and other slow turds. Who ever decided to put those pigs on the same course as the i14s bumped theit heads. If you were one the ass holes screaming at us, just want you to know that you are an ass clown and would love to see your old out of shape ass even attempt to sail in a straight line on a 14.

In the last few years of this event, it's been getting more and more crowded in South Bay. I'd say we are at capacity now at this event, perhaps over.

Not sure why the 70's do not sail outside with the other big fleets. To the RC's credit, I thought this year was managed a bit better than others.

Less wait time (at least for the F18's) and it seemed like the fleets were spread out better than previous years. This regatta has always been unique in that you have to know the local conditions very well and you also have to know how to sail around the obstacles like a long wall of slow boats going downwind with very few gaps. You either pick a side or you shoot for a hole in the chain and try to stay clean. Either way, there is always more close crossings between fleets than at other regattas.

West Coast Championships. All of our larger events )Nationals, West Coasts, North Americans) have a Required Distance race. With a fleet well over 100 yrs. old it is one the the historical things we try to keep going in the fleet. Lots of other really interesting historical items from the fleet both the northern and souther hemisphere fleets. The Distance race was started in South Bay with a windward leeward, up to FM 19, down to channel marker 23, back to FM 19 and back to finish About 15 mi. We made an executive decision due to the lightening breeze so we took out the up and back part.

You call that a distance race? FM19 is barely in the main bay.

We used to start Lightnings under the Coronado bridge, with a finish line at the MBYC. Those were fun as long as the wind held.

Did Bay to Bay last Summer. Start off Mission Bay mouth, around SD #3 down to the bridge and back to the Dolphins to finish. 1:45 and change. Have also done Seal Beach to Dana Point in the past and hope to again this summer.

Room at the Submarine! (also whales)
