Would be nice to have the TV coverage show the old overhead tracks where you can clearly see the pointing angle difference

Yup, absolutely. Maybe even a small semi-transparent overhead in the corner of the screen at all times, with just laylines, positions, and trail lines. Not something that obstructs the view of the main picture, but it's there if you need it.

I'm pretty sure Blair Tuke was checking his Instagram account on that last reach.

this cyclist on the ETNZ look downright  leisurely!

watched the 20th stage of the giro d'Italia today (QUINTANA, Nairo will win tomorrow) they were working hard---

Plenty hydro left in the tank for entz sure.

I can't see them beating BAR. That was pretty woeful.

Poor bastards.

I'd say JS will be very aggressive in the Prestart against ETNZ...try to make a statement like the fucking ginga he is lol!!

I'm watching bt sports and they are starting to layer on the Benny boy ads. They're going to look pretty sad if their first opponents bring out a rubber glove and go elbow deep.

Everyone goes on about spithills starts but he never had an advantage over Dean in 2013.

Yeah I'm on that stream as well. I don't think Ken Read will be too sympathetic.

This next will be good. Not a bad spectacle at all so far.

Better than 2013 but still not a patch on previous cups.

If we believe the onscreen graphics, BAR is regularly slower across the water than Artemis so their angles must be impressive

Deffo faster - foils by the looks - AR seem hindered on the lighter foils they are running with..... BAR screw a tack they are hooped...... its close though

16 sec gate #3 Delta - gaining by playing the shifts better - on a drag race both are matched

are they not saying that Artemis chose the wrong foils?  Light wind ones?

Ainslie did say they'd added some new tech in the last few days. Truly incredible if they left it that late knowingly and on purpose.

Suddenly race 6 looking pretty exciting, too!

17 sec isn't a thrashing IMO.

It is when you're apparently one of the 2 fastest of the challengers, against what is apparently one of the 2 slowest.

BAR have got to be happy with that although their grinders were stuffed at the end

So now France would need 4 points (more if they don't beat BAR twice). They could be substantially better than they are and still in trouble.

That BAR win surprised the hell out of me, they looked plenty competitive in those conditions - conditions we should expect a lot more of.

Based on that would Artemis still have been thrashed if they had beaten BAR by a few seconds? ??

Just showed the delta between OR v FR (2:11) and NZ v FR (2:33).

Not much to make of that though. Both teams probably throttled back. Next race should be great!

it seems to me LRBAR has generally a slight leeward heel, versus Artemis (and ETNZ and Oracle) winward heel... leeward heel is supposed to be slower? I dont know what to make of it

Interesting to hear Peter Lester yesterday say that Andy Malony delivers the most power from all of ETNZ's cyclists..

Artemis by 13s in R2, BAR by 11s in R4, and now for the ETNZ v. OTUSA big battle in R5, the first time they have raced against each other in Bda. Winds 11-13kts.

OTUSA leads by mere metres! And now ETNZ by 100+ metres! Around the 3rd gate by 20s, now 190m! Shoot! Now 280m in Leg 4! TNZ doesn't get penalty as boats touch...This is a race, boys! Spithill is racing!!! And there it is: OTUSA WINS R5!

Joey Newton says its a manoeuvre that they use when they haven't got their lay lines exactly right. Also said that they use all the foils in the manoeuvre.
