Tacks are still slower on OR, but massive improvement today.  Very promising for a real contest

The delta in this race is going to be deceiving.  OR are looking pretty fast, just too many stupid errors so far

If they lose this race, JS is mainly responsible. Can't blame boat speed.

Yes 3 massive mistakes so far for oracle

Dunno. They've looked a LOT more competitive today. I wonder what would have happened without the Ocs.

They may have a quicker boat today that is a pig to drive?

Nothing sad about the stupid errors...to much time in the framework, not enough time in development.

Oracles speeds through tacks and gybes are still couple knots slower every time.

probably this

sacrifice stability for speed. have to sail it right

Yes but they seem to have resolved the straight line speed issues to some extent.

OR-XEROX was modded for straightline speed - just like yank cars.

Couple of bad errors by Spithill at the start and on that dial down, otherwise a giod boat race but the ETNZ running away with it with a big lead!

come on ETNZ!

Esp if they shaved surface area from their prior foils and in the process increased the hydraulic demand for maintaining control. Couple of rounded marks later your crews become exhausted.

See what happens in the second race later today.

Painful in that I would like to see a competitive match regardless of the final outcome.

Thoughts on the dial down that led to a penalty anyone?

If those are the rules, they should be enforced. It's the Alud Mug, not Wednesday night cans.

The problem I think with Oracle, is they giving up stability and it's showing and if they are running out of oil then it's all over rover.

Well that margin flattered etnz somewhat. Orifice did look super competitive until that 2nd penalty.

Let's see if OR don't make a mistake next race at the start. If it's closer, it'll be interesting to see if OR can control the boat enough to stay in it. Speed upwind from them better on one tack anyway. The other ETNZ seemed to have a slight advantage still. Downwind ETNZ seemed faster overall. No comparison on boat handling.

You can ignore final margins - once you're going to lose in this event, you save your arms for the next race...
