      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

LONQR = Land Of Not Quite Right.

It's a euphemism for "that's fucked up!" several of us in the military adopted when visiting or living in far away places.  LONQR is usually found in non-western countries.  LONQR varies from being close to normal but not quite right to being a long way from being normal.  So here's my first installment of LONQR:

There is absolutely no hope for anyone who has ever done that.

More toilet LONQR.  Is there really a world-wide misconception that you are supposed to perch on the seat and not sit

How many other ways do you know where can you catch a meaty dinner without a hook, a gun, a spear, a trap, or a pocketful of money?

It's real.

Had drones on my mind for the last couple days. A neighbor is selling his house and the real estate agents had some guy bring a drone out to seek some odd-angle shots of the property. We have swirling winds on these hills. I've had many a shooting session cut short by the ball zig-zag towards the basket one too many times. It was one of those days and the thing was rock steady. He even flew it with the blades not more than a foot from his chest for some time. I had to walk over and ask about it. Said it does it entirely with GPS, no gyros or inertial stabilization. Awesome.

Accelerometers on a chip are so inexpensive and add so much functionality, I'd be surprised if it didn't use them as much as GPS. But it is true that they are making amazing gizmos these days.

They have 3 axis gyros for stabilization in addition to gps.

And a compass. And a downward facing camera who's only job is to help stabilize in place.

One word: Hipsters.

Apparently PBR and flannel is popular with that crowd. Damnit, I've been a hipster for the last 40 odd years.

When you realise the footprints are yours, you've been there too long....

True.  Sadly, its not even limited to rural.

Speaking of rural Asia, I wonder what the chances of getting a drink in the jungles of (Malaysia) Borneo during Ramadan?
