      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Heard about that on the radio the other day. He filled the fridge with the stuff exploding targets are made of.

A few years ago a guy blew his leg off shooting at a lawn mower packed with tannerite.

People seem to forget that that shit doesn't just make a big noise.

How much Tannerite would it take to fill a refrigerator, and how much would that cost? I mean...... I understand that some people have unlimited supplies of cash, but the kid didn't look like a Trump....

You can get 50lbs for $100.  That would be more than enough for the refrigerator.

I've seen 20lbs go off, and it was impressive.

I doubt it was filled as in full of it. I'm sure that was a couple of pounds. There is a video on line of a full size truck being demolished by 30 pounds.

I've never understood the fascination with blowing shit up. I worked with some guys who just loved it...had a ranch and blew up lotsa stuff on an annual guy weekend of drinking, shooting, cigars and explosions. I attended once but I always thought......"yep.....it's blown up alrighty"........they'd laugh and high five and jump around.....I thought they were funnier than than the explosions. After one event I passed on future events (the fact that I didn't shoot guns didn't help......that was the primary focus of the event).

No jokes, I lived 20 minutes from there when that happened.  Five(ish) miles from where that happened, there's a nuclear power plant.  The authorities were on that dude like stink on shit.  He was arrested, but he didn't do anything wrong, so they let him go.

Went to an old quarry one day with my older brother to "plink" some cans and bottles with a .22 single shot.

Some chromosome deficient types show up with a what looked to be a butane or propane tank... the big 15 gallon long ones you see on the construction sites...  I assume it was empty as one of the was able to move it around..  When they pulled out the Howitzer of a rifle my brother asked them to give us few minutes to clear the area before they started shooting.  Like most 12 year old kids I was kind of bummed cuz I was doing some cool shit with my oldest brother, shooting guns, swearing, a swigging some Hires Root Beer.  But it all came clear later when he explained shrapnel to me while we were sitting at this new burger place called McDonald's.

We both checked the paper the next day and they day after to see if they made the headlines... they didn't... Guess God does have a special providence for fools, drunkards, and stupidity.

Golf Clap!

I give the idiot in the first clip credit for being smart enough to stand behind a tree. The other videos are just job security for EMS. I have the shooting/blow 'em up gene and these idiots scare me. Giving a loaded gun to anyone is something that requires serious thought. The idiots giving big calibers to novices should be taken out back and have their clocks cleaned.

Old barn board goes for the price of expensive hardwood.

The few big beams would be worth something but I doubt much else. That was thin stuff and that roof had been leaking a loooong time.  I would bet a significant portion of the large dim lumber is still salvageable...and easier to get out. Demo-ing an old rickety barn...it's gonna be an excavator or explosives. Having people up on THAT roof slowly hacking the thing apart?

That old grey planking is becoming popular once again for indoor paneling. It was huge (and expensive) for that back in the early 70's. What was old......

If the market doubled (it won't, ever again. Function of cost.) it would be almost 8%.

Perhaps, but I don't know why people think the explosion rendered it all or even most of it useless.  Just been shuffled, for the most part.

Look a little closer - most of it has been splintered & snapped.

Explosions don't disassemble buildings, they disintegrate them.

A creative decorator would reassemble them and call the resulting mess texture. And probably get a boatload of money.

Had the opportunity to shoot the twin barrel version of these guns, at the tax payer's expense, of course. Also got to shoot off & watch depth charges explode off Destroyer Escorts. Fortunately, our targets couldn't shoot back. Blowing up stuff is fun, as is doing things you are not supposed to do.

Yeah, the virgin timber guys ... gorgeous hardwood, tight grain. But a lot of those old decaying barns aren't old enough to have it in them. That barn in the video, those beams looked pretty well milled, the construction didn't look all that heavy, maybe it was a 1950s-era build?

If he could afford a vintage Nixon mask, he probably didn't care about the money, he just wanted the fun of blowing it up. If money was object, he could have pulled that barn down a lot cheaper than explosives with some cable and a tractor, then sold the wood. There really is a steady market for old barn wood, even the thin, weathered stuff. That exploded barn probably still had a lot of good stock, he might have been able to sell some of the less rotten bits. He had to get all that wood out of there anyway, right?

It's funny to read the comments on these videos, people with adorable cottages in the city crying like some national treasure was just lost ...

I mean, how many people who actually use their barns for their livelihoods want some old piece of rotten crap taking up space, when they can have a concrete floor, solid structure, a metal roof, and beams that horses can't nibble to death for the next fifty years? Friggen city people, sometimes ... he's even wearing the Gogol Bordello t-shirt and has the folk music over the video. Then they'll take that old barn, make it into ironic furniture at some trendy downtown furniture shop, and make more off that old barn than the owners probably made off of it in its lifetime. Cripes.

They can net $5 or even $10 a board foot out of that reclaimed wood.

So yeah, I would much rather want to have a can of Bud with the guy who blew up the barn, than one of the Hipsters who treasures the old barn wood. Yeah, I like the virgin timber, it's gorgeous, but it's also loved by a bunch of twats.

Do you think that guy who blew up his barn is going to drink a growler of Cascade Apricot Ale? Or Pumpkin Harvest IPA?

He blew up s barn. And when you blow up a barn, you reach for something cold that your daddy had you get from the cooler for him when you were six. And that isn't a Dark and Stormy or anything that couldn't be accessed by a pop-top.

But it was cold and it was there and I was in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It wasn't just a beer. It was a miracle.

Bud in cans would be a warning. In this case, the second warning.

If you're really dim enough to miss the fact that dude just blew up his barn, when he suggests Bud in cans, that should set off enough alarm bells that, coupled with the tiny pieces of barn that would still be falling, should send you screaming for the hills.
