      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Clean Interview of GA

Why do you harass Mr Clean for bringing to you GA's interview,

of course he has to advertize himself, of course the introduction is a bit long,  but that  is not a reason to blame him, that is his job you know !!

If any wankers are able to make such an interview, do not hesitate mates.

Happy Sunday

Just now gave that interview another listen, it really is excellent.

One thing that struck me this time since after the subsequent GV interview is how well they dovetail. Twist-trimming the wing high to help keep loads steadier down low, with the power savings compared to moving the 'barn door' via the 'traveler, and with the steadier-state benefit also to the foils, as one of the really good dovetail examples.

And GA also directly says (yes, a favorite subject of mine) that 'if you look at all the data and stats' there was very little between the two boats performance-wise.

I haven't looked at the stats but id guess that after the lightening during the lay days Oracle would've been heeling more and/or paying more in leeway despite going much faster?

Clean loves the sound of his own voice. The introduction was disturbing in the least. Meh, the questions where that of an excited child, not an indentured journalist.

Washed up and desperately seeking the next drink, Clean resorted to methalated spirits.

I am an internet sailing reporter, who absolutely loves this sport, and is fascinated by some of its players, and that comes through when i talk to them.  I have no apologies if you don't like that.  I have no idea where you got the idea that I am meant to be an 'indentured journalist' for whatever that is.

I thought it was a good interview.  The intro was a bit long, but I had plenty of time while on the road.

I know you are Clean. We here appreciate your efforts. There's absolutely no doubt nor fear of contradiction, that you're absolutely dedicated and passionate about sailing and in particular, competitive sailing.

My digs were aimed solely at ripping your asshole wide open so all could see inside and sniff your colon. I believe I was successful in the first part, and gave all the opportunity to take a sniff and comment in the same tone as I. What transpired was less than I'd expected from my little experiment.

It is indeed the opinion of the vast majority that your piece was well accepted, save the intro of which there were some who passed comment.

For myself, I didn't mind the introduction apart from the length.

Keep up the good work Clean.

Hey Clean. I don't know you from a bar of soap, but i love and appreciate  your work. I for one will listen to anything you publish and dwell on your musings... because you know so much more than I do about this obsession. Please carry on and ignore the drivel and postulations of this who love to sit on the sidelines and chuck rocks.  You are doing it while they dream about it. Kia kaha.

I said nothing about a cash infusion.  is there a source for that information?

What I said, based on three different sources who each came up with a piece of the puzzle and NOT corroborated by anyone inside the teams, is the following - and again, this is NOT FACT, it is speculation based on the info I pieced together.

1) Luna Rossa turned over all its gear and IP to ETNZ for the cost of shipping after they dropped out.

2) Luna Rossa and ETNZ made an agreement whereby in exchange for the gear, LR would be the challenger of record if ETNZ won.

3) The agreement further provided that, if ETNZ won, they would be required to accept LR's challenge in a monohull to be agreed upon between the parties.

4) Finally, it provided that if ETNZ won and either (1) didn't accept LR's challenge or (2) didn't accept a monohull, then they would have to pay for the agreed-upon value of the equipment and IP they received from Luna Rossa.  The number of $30M is ostensibly what Max spent with LR from the end of AC34 to their withdrawal from AC35, and if you know the size of the program, the bonuses they paid to lock people up early, and the kind of cash burn they had, it's easy to imagine it.

Like I said, it's a neat story that makes a lot of sense.  Whether it is true or not?  No idea.  Whether it is actually legal under the deed to make that sort of arrangement is another story, though it would be hard for the signatories to the Framework to argue.  Personally, I believe that such an agreement may actually be okay under the deed's prohibition against 'considering other challenges' but only because ETNZ was not the defender.

Good times.

"Yachting World’s Editor, Elaine Bunting, said this appears to confirm one of the most widely talked about secrets of Cup circles: “that Luna Rossa’s backer, Italian billionaire Patrizio Bertelli, gave Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) design expertise and computer tools, plus $30 million of funding, in 2015 when he pulled out in protest at the change to the AC50 class."

"This appears to justify ......"

"The deal arranged was said to be...."

Nothing at all "relevant" about the quote, just more unsubstantiated speculation and rumourmongering. Elaine is much better than lowering herself to Clean's level...or maybe she was one of Clean's 3 "different sources" or should that be sauces

Umm, what? The design, and even financial collaborations, between GD and P$B have been deep and enduring for years already. Whether you like that the tight collaboration is true or whether you do not like it, the facts of those tight collaborations remain - even by their own admissions.

This vid is way Off Topic but is on topic in the sense of interview styles. TE has Dave Dobbs from Seahorse talking about the Trans PAC starting at around 12:45

You have been posting for weeks about a conspiracy and/or coercion - now suddenly it's about 'collaboration'  - keep up your campaign spin-boy, you never ḱnow when some newbie might be sucked in by your one-eyed, all-enabling Larry love.

one can only hope that Larry throws the towel in soon, and spinbot has to sock out to preserve face and give the 13,529 posts the burial that it deserves.

Rennie? Comment please

About cash infusion, Matteo De Nora (among others) denied that

Very late to the party, still catching up. I didn't want to leave your Q unanswered tho. The guy is called Carsten Kemmling. He is the editor of a blog called SegelReporter.com, and also writes for Der Spiegel every now and then. This hints at good journalism, but even Kemmling is sometimes wrong, especially when he writes about the AC.
