      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Aggressive cardinal-

Recommended Posts

So I have a cardinal that is going bat shit crazy and flying into my bedroom window pane over and over and over again for hours on end day after day- he's also decided to attack the mirrors on my truck and the back window as well- I'm pretty sure this guy is defending his girl against other male cardinals and he sees his reflection and the fight begins-- I get that but I feel bad for him as he's knocking himself out on occasion and he's leaving blood on both my window and my truck- notwithstanding,  the constant banging is really annoying.

So aside from covering my mirrors and windows, what the hell can I do? I toyed with the idea of putting the aggro little fuck out of his misery with an air rifle, but as big and tough as that sounds I don't have the heart to do it, he's just protecting his nest, from himself, but he's on it...

any suggestions?

Decals or paper shapes placed inside or outside the window
Strips of tape, plastic or paper arranged in an irregular pattern
Soaping the outside of the windows either fully or in a pattern
Placing non-reflective screen outside the window 2-3 inches from the glass
Adding one-way transparent film or opaque plastic to windows
Repositioning an outdoor plant or flower basket to block the window view
Closing outside shades or blinds if possible

With one exception, every news network is reporting this as "facing HISTORICAL sex abuse charges", as if Historical waters it down,  everything happens in the past.

Yeah, no news outlets are reporting on this bird. As a matter of fact, I believe SA has the exclusive story. I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain that having an aggressive bird who's killing himself defending his nest isn't quite historical or newsworthy-

dumbass

Thank you for the article- I dig my little aggro buddy- and I'm quite happy sharing my yard with him and his family- I'll try a few of the less intrusive options and see where it goes-

i fell for the little guy, I can see he's stressed and tied, I've never seen a bird pant before- he's got to be exhausted- kudos to his work ethic though/ as soon as the sun gets high enough to cast a reflection, he's on it and relentless-

cheers

You got a bird feeder and some sunflower seeds?

No, au natural... I think his nest is in a tree out front and I don't want to encourage him to find his reflection in any more places- he's just doing his job and I don't want to make it any harder.

Its almost time for him to show up- his head has got to be killing him at this point. Poor guy.

I've seen where you can have a quasi transparent adherent film made with a picture of your choice.....perhaps one with a owl or hawk? Or a plastic owl they sell to keep the little buggers off your boat?
