frustrating hours... since i don't pay... (a slight chance that i will consider the option for next leg... since it is one of the real legs/ the real leg in my opinion...) i only have the c0 and the light options.... and it makes a full knot difference at the moment... (polars)

I finally decided to go ahead and check the routings for the main lead pack against mine, and it looks like I'm totally screwed.  The whole plan was based on the doldrums being awful, but it looks like the main lead pack will have reasonable lanes to get through.  I'm projected to finish 2-3 days after whoever wins.  Oh well.  I wanted to try something different because I was sick of the doldrums, and I did that.  Occasionally that can pay off, but it usually doesn't.

I've considered it, but its current position is pretty ugly and I did all this extra distance to avoid the doldrums, so I don't really want to drop in just before the doldrums.  I might do it in a couple days if my route doesn't start looking better... after the frigate is clear of the doldrums...  It could be a good move if the frigate happens to clear the doldrums in a spot where much of the rest of the fleet is still in light stuff.  I'm doubtful of being able to do better than ~5,000th if I take the frigate, but I suppose that would be better than my current ETA is likely to achieve.  We'll see.

Honestly, I think the frigate should never be an option. I know this is only a game, but we all here (I think) try to do our best like in the real world, checking forecasts several times a day, using routing software, putting different strategies on top of the table, setting the alarm clock late at night, etc..  So a teleport does not sound a seamanship move to me.

the advantage of refusing to pay... the option is not there (too little coins). then again, there is also the downside. not being able to buy all the sails/ options... (this leg just c0 and light)

Some good news for me...  When I said the other day that the main pack was going to finish 2-3 days ahead of me, I had "ignore gates" turned on in Zezo...  so it was giving me the main pack's routing without concern for the buoy.  I'm still expected to be behind, but not THAT bad.  With a chance for glory still if the doldrums suddenly get much worse.

While it cost me a lot of south, I'm happy to have a little bit of east on the leaders  allthough I'm sure there are a few others like me that are hoping for a vastly improved 48hour+ forecast. It looks like a crap shoot right now.

Up there just behind wethog. (Was ahead until a 10 hr flight from London to LAX and I had to set waypoints to avoid some islands...).  Zezo keeps telling me to go south......I keep going further east to maintain some leverage.

Zezo had us taking a couple of hitches to the east which had me excited since I was on the east side of the lead group. Got my gybe programmmed before heading for bed, then took one last look and zezo changed its mind to fast forward to the south at a hotter angle. Glad I caught the change. Or not?  Time will tell and I don’t think it will really matter considering the crap forecast south of the Solomons.

Yeah, my original intention was to gybe across 3S and attempt move south around 175W. I was watching Marcusbelgicus fall off with presumable the same idea until they went stealth. So I went stealth, which is kinda funny to me now...it's not like I'm so great at this game that people are dying to see what I do next.

I see Rainbow Spirit and Gybe Turkey followed through, I hope it works out for them. The racing between 10S and 30S is going to be brutal for both groups.

Mom and Stufishing's Pacific Grand Tour route looks better each passing moment.

Yeah, I was just checking the long term forecast and they might have a much better lane through the light shit. Zezo has thrown another curve ball and has us tucking inside of Malaita and San Cristobal. This will certainly split the fleet and make things more interesting.

If you decide to go east of Malaita you should make the call right now. The closer you get to the mark, the stronger shadow you will have to leeward.
