Yeah, I’m making sure everyone makes it home okay. My puckhead boat went in the opposite direction than Shorty off the start. I wanted to see what would happen. Now we know. puckhead was caught a few times doing circles with the TWA locked. Might have kissed shore a couple of times. Really sucks for those of us trying to finish the Jules Verne trophy event with doldrums remaining to go, trying to beat the times of people who finished their run before the change... But this is unfortunately typical of VR. It's great news for future events including the remaining VOR and Clipper legs. It's just frustrating for in-process events. He had his site set up already to be able to run multiple races with multiple minimum windspeeds, but he advised people in one of the forum threads that VR was set up at a master level and was probably weeks of re-development from being able to change it at an individual race level. One of the VR forum moderators did a decent job of explaining the decision. They really wanted it in place for the next Clipper and Volvo legs (and I'm guessing also the Dubai to Muscat race, where it will make a big difference), so their window to change it was tight. So they made the call to proceed while only two races were in progress. I won't hurt the in-process racers for the Peyron thing... if you're in <4 kts in that race, you're doing something wrong. It really only hurt the JVT. So... they minimized damage (as much as possible without a month of re-development). The change is a good change. I wish it had been in place prior to the last Volvo leg. Hike, Bitches! 272 #2311 Posted March 5, 2018 Glad y'all found my finish position..this leg sucked...however, I might have been in Cozumel, Mexico for the last week, and might have been snorkeling, or diving, or watching Hobie Wave's sink (sorta), or drinking beer, or drinking tequila, and maybe seeing some hot bitches...I had fallen back in this leg WAY before any of that happened..so it just made it harder to pay attention to get to the finish. I am back now..At least it is 52° F here in Maryland today after a long flight home.
