      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Open 50 moored outside RCYC?

Recommended Posts

Saw there’s a nondescript Open (50, maybe?) boat moored outside RCYC. Dull gray paint, no commercial branding or cosmetics. Anyone know the backstory?

On another note, Derek’s boat seems to be languishing away on the hard out by Cherry Beach. Thought there was a new offshore development team that was supposed to be using that?

Cheers.

The white boat that has been moored at RCYC for the last few years is the former Spirit of Canada open 60.

Thanks. Is anyone actually planning on using it, or is the club just holding onto it for posterity’s sake?

Then there’s Derek’s newer boat gathering dust near Cherry Beach

Don't know what the boat near Cherry Beach is or where specifically you are referring to, but unless they have moved it since Friday, Derek's open 60 built in Canada is at RCYC and whatever the other boat is it is almost certainly not an open 60, it could be one of the two Epsirit de Corps Volvo 60's that were moored at the foot of Parliament street this summer.

As far as plans for the boat, not sure what the exact situation is but it is pretty much the same old story of no sponsor so no money.

Derek's 60 (O'canada/spirit of canada) is not owned by the club its owned independently (really complicated noone wants to talk about it kind of deal)

EDC's boats left the RCYC at the end of august so not their VO60's. They have a Castro 40 and another VO60 that are grey but i'm pretty sure they aren't in Toronto. I'll get back when i get a reply

Hey thanks for the replies. I’m not a suitor, just curious.

yeah it looked like his newer boat, still wearing full colours, was parked on the hard at the foot of Parliament for most of the spring/summer. Haven’t been by lately...

P Butter, the open 60 oh Canada/spirit of  Canada has both been dry docked at foot of Parliament and kept on a mooring ball at Rcyc for the last couple of seasons since its arrival from Vancouver and is now under new ownership...so it may be just 1 and the same open 60 you guys are talking about.
