      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Extreme Sailing Series in San Diego

Recommended Posts

So I can't find coverage anywhere except on the website for the series itself. Large portions of Harbor Island are closed and there is virtually no parking for those of us who keep a boat down there.

Looks like they're in for good breeze on Friday in the 15- 20 knot range. Might be fun to watch.

Here is a link to the San Diego bay webcams but there is probably a better source as these move around a bunch.

there is nothing mentioned on sa as the ding dong in marketing essentially wanted us to run their ads for free - sure, you bet we will! when some don't think we are worthy of a few advertising dollars, (after reaching out to us), giving free publicity simply is not in that equation...

having said that, clean will be announcing and i am going to go for a spin on one of the boats - either friday or saturday. and they are going to let me drive - capsize, anybody? hahaha!

Yup, today was pretty much a yawnfest.  Except there were some pretty big flyers and payoffs seeking wind, and champs turned to chumps quickly.  The SAP "Virtual Eye(?)" app pretty much sucks, at least on my  lo-res Wi-Fi connection; too jerky and freezing to really follow the race.

OTOH, the start line is only 2,000' from where I live; today was moderately entertaining bare eyed from E. Harbor Island..  Tomorrow is the go to day for fireworks, 25kn gusts?  Also maybe rain, so bring your umbrella.  Sat-Sun finals prediction is 15-20mph Sat and maybe a 11-15mph Sunday.  The Diego' forecasters have a difficult job prediction exact conditions in the Bay, so buyer beware.

Not many people today at the "Village" based on a binocular scan.  They've sure blocked out the street with cones, etc., expecting a big crowd Sat-Sun., $30 parking fees, offsite shuttles, etc.

Personally it reminds me of the RC44 happening in 2011,  big promotion but Diego' didn't deliver on wind.  Maybe this time, the wind Gods will deliver. Ben and some of the other team's top boys are showing up, could be interesting.

If it's a steady 18 with gusts to 25 they might not go out. The bay can be gusty out of the Northwest and especially right below the AC harbor entrance

The "Extreme Sailing Series" does not refer to the weather for any given event but rather to the series itself. In other words If that were flat calm it would still be "The Extreme Sailing Series".
