Foiling Aero

Recommended Posts

Peter Stephinson of Glide Free Foils was demonstrating a foiling kit for the RS Aero at the RS AeroCup at Lake Garda last year (2016) and several sailors tried it out there.

The Glide Free Foils foiling kit for the Aero can be bought for around AUD $5,000 at the Glide Free Foils website.

Looks like the RS Aero is a great platform for learning the basics of foiling.

It's good to see the RYA developing a Foiling Instructor course. Are US Sailing doing something similar?

.....seems like the windsurfer next to him is going faster, easier, and CHEAPER!......just sayin'

But the windsurfer doesn't have a cupholder.

Great! Now the AERO, which is beginning to gain a bit of traction in the US, can be split - straight board or foiler. Just like the A Cat is splitting. The dilution of one-design in the USA small boat racing world continues. Stop the Insanity. Happy Sailing!

Don't worry about the RS Aero. A few owners might buy the foiling kit so they can blast around on their own. But I have heard of zero interest in racing foiling Aeros.

If someone seriously wants to race a SMOD small single-handed foiler my guess is they will buy a UFO or a Waszp rather than an Aero. Good luck to them.
