      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Visiting glamour

Admittedly we get more than our fair share of maxis and other glamour boats for such a small city at the end of the earth (Hobart), but they usually arrive late December, and leave by the new year... It was a pleasant surprise to have this slip into the harbor today - and I've gotta say that she's in a league of her own compared to Oats, Comanche etc... Friendly crew too.

A quick google didn't tell me, but the crew said that she's nearly as fast as Comanche upwind.

That is indeed a very cool boat, very glamorous. It's nice to see that at least one mega-wealthy guy has good taste.

I like your boat too, the pink hiking stick makes a real statement

Came downwind out of the west with that kite/code still on the furler?

I don't know what they'd call the (nearly) masthead sail on the furler, but I suppose it could be a 'cruising' 0. Here's a couple of photos 'borrowed' from FB of her entering the harbor. In that breeze (low teens) she was bending the apparent a fair way foreword.

We'll say faded red, although I did learn to sail a pink sabot ;)

Hopefully she'll stay around a while.

Fun fact, Hetairos actually had the highest IRC rating ever issued there for a little while. I think it was in the 2.xxx range. Race crew are some of the nicest guys out there and I genuinely consider it to be one of the coolest boats ever built.

Edit: in 2012 they had a 1.989 IRC rating to Wild Oats XIs 1.945

That rating is probably going to go up, as the scuttlebutt is they're fitting way oversized squaretops on the boat.

We raced her in the SB bucket in weather years ago.  She banged her lifting keel hard cutting a corner and had to retire.  Sounded like a very expensive transport back across the pond but is truly beautiful.

Why would she have a yankee? I had one once, but it was so I could see under it to leeward. Although, it did balance the boat beautifully in a breeze.

I was there the day she hit the rock and lost the bottom section of her keel. Last I heard they were searching for it with divers.

Anyone know if they found it.

Striking boat also known as the big green reaching machine.

Her value in the local media was quoted as about 20 000 000 Aud. I was surprised that even second-hand it would "only" fetch that. I have a friend working on another super-yacht who said they had a minor collision with Hetairos - so I guess they discussed $$$ - and reckoned probably 3 times that figure.... Anyhow, its nice to know that the pros are't immune to the odd stuff-up.

She had her rigs out at Newport Shipyard not long ago. Absolutely massive to see up close on the dock.

Design fees are less than 10% of that number and you could replace the rigging 2-3 times for that, including masts
