      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

No shit. Here is the owners cabin on the 111. Looks a bit awkward, doesn't it? Looks like a set from some Woody Allen movie or Star Trekblob.thumb.png.94a9c82b298616aa243fdd1471556624.png

My first thought upon seeing that first layer laying across those ribbands was Golden Dazy (1975 Ron Holland built by Gougeon Bros.) but no IOR boat built 42 years ago had a plumb bow so... nope. Anyway, on closer examination, the first layer looks like a core foam. It's already been faired a bit.

nope! maybe this helps.

How do you ease the backstay with a fixed length cascade? Unless they did all that and added runner locks.

Brooklin Boat Yard build of W37 (Maybe Race Horse? which is for sale...for half a mill) Oh and the missing bit in the bow is probably where they are fitting reinforcement  for a bow sprit...maybe...I dunno...this is driving me nuts...

That definitely looks like CG, vs. real photo??   Gorgeous rendering, but who can possibly afford to maintain all that brightwork??

It's pretty easy. If you look closely, that's no pad eye on deck. I'm guessing hydraulic ram under the cockpit.

Traveler, too.

It has to do with the throw of the ram vs the amount of ease needed to not interfere with the leeward side of the main, mostly the top third or so with the square top.

So?

Seems odd, that's all.  Perhaps this the normal with square top mains, I have no experience in that regard..

1:4 hydraulic setups are pretty common. 2m throw and 8m runner adjustment. 100s of these in use on bigger boats.

2 *meter* throw?  So, roughly an 8-foot-long cylinder, with a 6-foot-long ram sticking out of it when fully eased?

Big boat square top main rigs are usually done with runners and deflectors, no backstay.

For hydraulic runners & sheets, ram length depends on how much play you need. A 2m ram is a 2m long cylinder. You'd be surprised how close they come to double in length when extended.

You are corect in so many ways, however I doubt this is the case with said boat. The topmast running backstay control also goes down below along with the cascade, as well as being 2:1 and going to a winch. Shall we assume that this also goes to a ram????

maybe they dogbone below deck rather than above. Shall I show you examples of this rather than assume as you do?
