Just got a fireball. Any good advice out there on them? I've sailed the boats some, but this is the first one that I've owned.

i have several questions:

- what's it made of

- how old is it

- where did you buy it

- are you interested in racing it

also, congrats, it's a super fun boat! i'm a little jealous!

Its a wood hull. I am going to get it sunday, so i can give sail number updates after that. Its in Charleston, SC. And I'll most certainly be racing it. Hoping to have it very ready for the 2019 worlds

Still a couple of old fireball sailors in the Charleston area that will be glad to help you with your new boat.

I'm hoping to make it to the 2019 Worlds. Waiting to hear what they select as the date/venue. I'm personally considering possibly chartering a boat or buying one before next year. Hopefully it'll all work out!

2019 Worlds will be at Pointe Claire YC, Quebec, Canada. See notice on the UKFA website here.

Only this, so far, on the Fireball International site...

We've raced our 505 a number of times at the HPDO (I think they changed the name a bit this year--we couldn't make it) at American Yacht Club in Rye, NY.
The Fireballs are a great class of fun people and fun boats. We see them there. There seem to be two centers of gravity: Florida, and Ontario/Quebec.  You should certainly make contact with the national class and the Florida sailors. But you should also see about getting up to Rye next year.

At least tell us if you didn't get the boat. That way I can quit wondering which boat it is!
