      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

Hello there. This is Julia from Lake Worth Sail Club. We would like to host a centerboard circuit for the 2018 year. Would the fleet be interested?

We are located on the northwest side of fort worth. We are a member-run club with a protected harbor, beach and ramp launch. We also allow camping.

I would like to suggest either a May or August date to the board.

Please send feedback either on here or to my email at 80sailorgrl@gmail.com

Thanks, Julia

The 2018 Spring Fling Regatta at Conroe Yacht Club is scheduled for April 28th & 29th. If you haven't been to this regatta you're missing a good one. TCC, Sunfish and RS Aero Texas State Championships. Great food, lots of Shiner and great folks. See you there.

Very cool, i'll put it on the EVO schedule.  I doubt the container will be in by we should still have five on the line.    Great place to camp.

We can fleet out those who want to, but I like the idea of "run what ya brung" too. The Aeros will obviously want to stay together as this is a pretty big regatta for them, Sunfish too. But I think the TCC fleet could outnumber all others by a bunch. But we need to get the word out. This year is going to be a major party. Plan on that!

Looks like Dist 15 Lasers want in on the fun. We're shooting for 50+ boats. Looking like 2 Shiner kegs might not be enough. Small boat event of the year?

Okay,

It's official: Lasers are in for Spring Fling. We have decided to throw a party Friday night for any of you who want to act like your 19 again. Keg provided and we'll have a grill fired up for those who want to bring something to burn. This is shaping up to be the best Spring Fling yet.

TCC

Lasers

RS Aeros

Sunfish

Who will bring the most boats?

DCYC had a few small boats, "470s", in the 80's. There "big" regatta in the spring is a big boat affair. Check the results. No dingys.

Well, Evo's will probably do it.

DCYC is a fun place to sail small boats.  It's on an arm of Lake Lewisville that doesn't get too much motorboat traffic, which is great because the rest of Lake Lewisville  is about the most dangerous lake of which I am aware for people boating while drunk in boats that will do 80.  You don't get that where DCYC is.

I took a trip up there for the first time in about 30 years, and getting to the lake is now more difficult because of the explosive growth of Little Elm, but once you make the turnoff and get to the club, it's a really nicely appointed place.  The clubhouse has been replaced since my last visit and is very nice.  Don't know about regatta management, but it's really a nice facility. I am sure the club would enjoy whatever fleet or group attended.

Probably one of if not the best yacht club camping venues around . It’s a drive to any hotels or bars so most everyone hangs out, which is something I really miss.

On that vein, Sailing’s decline has sort of followed the party decline.  The most successful regatta around are at events were off the water activity is strong (wurstfest for example).   Hmm, bring the party back...  save sailing?

Sushi, I totally agree.  It has been very difficult to get the "hard core" racist in GBCA to understand.  We need more socialization to get more racers, not the other way around.

The Spring Fling will host a Friday night party and supply a keg of Shiner. We will again have a keg for Saturday night after dinner and MUSIC under the hard roof. It's only a good stereo, but it'll make you want to move your stuff. If it's a party y'all want, it's a party y'all shall get. With the notorious Laser bunch coming, it should be interesting...

Good catch, Ortega!!  Autocorrect strikes again!!  I know you’re a RACER and not that abhorrent other “R” word....

Lindy, your regatta sounds like a blast!!  Should be a ton of fun!  Now if I can only wrest away control of the tune-age to ensure a good mix of The Gap Band, KC, Wild Cherry, and the like, that will make it even better!!  Ha ha!!  The Laser youth don’t let me near the noise maker, alas....

Hello,

Im hoping yall can help me out a bit. Im hoping to do some Texas centerboard sailing this year, that is if you'll let an okie in on the fun. i have some racing experience, mostly on 420s. I bought a little Dolphin Sr. a couple of years ago and i LOVE that thing! I heard that the women's north american's for sunfish was going to be in Austin this year and with it being so close i figured i shouldnt miss out on the fun! Is this where i need to be to keep updated on the schedule? Im trying to get a few people together from the Oklahoma City Boat Club so we can travel together.

How many races this year? I thought last year was too few and many thought the year before was too many. And only a handful of folks signed up for TCC last year. That's an issue that we all need to work on so we can all be scored. Looking forward to seeing you all.

We won’t make many in the fall due to #2 coming. So not much input. I don’t find value in scoring all the races. I know others do for what it’s worth.

Is anyone doing the HYC midwinter regatta?  Weather pending, of course.   They used to have a Portsmouth line, back in the day.

And we (EVO's) are for sure in for the DCYC regatta in may https://dcyc.org/CHCR

Just to let people know that the Sunfish Class-Annie Lancaster, Jenny and Ellen Burks are all working on the schedule for the Joint Texas Centerboard & Sunfish Circuit.  I believe Seabrook is not on the schedule since for the last two years not many of us are showing up and it is replaced with  Fort Wort Sailing Club.  As for the dues, $20 per boat is okay as long as it cover the website and the 3/4 trophies for the current year.  Be good and be safe, Sylvie

Thanks Lindy, done.    Will you guys post a list of currently registered boats?  Always nice to see who else is showing up.  If not, maybe you could post an updated list here from time to time?

Hi all,

Sorry for being so quiet. I've had a lot going on with work, fishing and getting some health items taken care of.  I know "Harpoonette" is working on getting a schedule posted. Sylvie could you please resend that email to Jen. I hope to make more of the events this year.

I think we are waiting to see what the sunfish do, and likely will just copy them? But Mikey said Harpoonette was working on something? Here's what I have doodled.

  • April 7-8 Austin governors cup
  • April 28-29 Conroe spring fling
  • TENTATIVE May 19-20 DCYC Corinthian Cup (someone would need to call and make sure they want us)
  • June 23-24 Summer Solstice Seabrook
  • August 9-10 Worth
  • SEPTEMBER???? Redneck regatta in Waco? Whitney?
  • TENTATIVE October 13-14 Rush Creek Fall Dinghy Fest
  • November 2 Canyon Wurstfest

That is pretty close to what's being proposed. Harpoonette and I are thinking Seabrook also.  Seabrook is kinda special to us. It should be going up on the web site here with in the next week.

Thanks Jenny, Ellen and Annie!  Great schedule.

Rush Creak Yacht Club - May 5 & 6, great camping.

Fort Worth Boat Club -  June 9 & 10, NO CAMPING, but great facilities and food.

Lake Worth Sailing Club - September  8 & 9, great camping.

As for the dues, $20 per boat!  I believe we shall all pay it.   I believe it cover the website fees and the 3/4 trophies for the current year.  Be good and be safe, Sylvie

Random here- friend of mine is involved with the sailors on Whitney. They are very laid back. A local guy really wants a picture from his wedding May 19th with sailboats in the background. He's willing to put up actual prize money up to get boats out there. The club doesn't have enough local boats, so needs outsiders. They are thinking of ideas, and thought perhaps a fun informal race would get some attenders. Free food, beer, and actual prize money....

Would anyone have any interest? If so, what kind of prize money would you be motivated by?

Whitney is an awesome lake, great camping, and I know we are open schedule wise and I think the Sunfish are too? Thoughts?

That makes FIVE Evos without Rod. Biggest fleet, by far, so far.

We recognize what a thankless job organizing and managing a regatta is.   Early registration certainly helps plan.

We appreciate what you do.

side-note, i just got a line on an Evo that's come available.  Barely ever used, owner has a stable of other high end yachts (like a 37' melges) and has agreed to let it go for us.   Good financial deal on the boat, we just have to get it here.   It's been a long time since i owned a boat id just go bang around on for fun, this one i do!  If you in the area and would like to jump in - send me a PM.      Rod also has three new boats showing up soon.

Jim Casto, the AYC fleet Commander, has some questions regarding TCC the "official TCC contact", and I didn't know who that is.

His email is jcasto@sbcglobal.net

Whomever fits the title of Official Contact can contact him directly.

Thanks,

Jim,

The AYC Governor's Cup regatta has been the opening regatta for The Texas Centerboard Fleet for several years now. Last year it blew hard (mid 20s) and kept several of our usual sailors on the dock. Hopefully, this year will bring a little lighter breeze and be a good one, once again. Thanks for the note and see you all soon.

So you can spread the word to your centerboard folks there at AYC, Conroe Yacht Club (CYC) will hold it's annual Spring Fling Regatta at the end of April. This weekend event hosts the Texas Centerboard Fleet, District 15 Lasers, Texas Sunfish, VX Evo stop and the RS Aero Texas State championship. This year will be a party, both Friday and Saturday night. Bring your Advil.

Hi All - Dave Clark would like to escape winter and come down for another UFO seminar - he mentioned second weekend in April.

Should we have a stand-alone event, or should we encourage him to attend one of these:

http://www.texascenterboard.org/schedule/

Thanks,

Charlie

Charlie,

I think the CYC regatta at the end of April would be a good place and time. Our club is pretty good for foil launching with a nice sandy beach and no rocks. He could be part of the party. He will have a much larger audience than the other events. Especially those who might be interested in a foiler.
