Sol hasn't got the hint yet.

No pictures or sharing, but this afternoon's tunes are Doug Kershaw Live record from 1975.  A present for my wife from my local record store.  I'm recording it to the computer.

Not many bands can cover the Beatles....   then again, Chris Stapleton is pretty d-mn amazing:   (the other 2 on the stage can please sit down).

I dunno who that Flowers guy is, but he needs to get a job at a car dealership. Crow wasn't at her best, but...... Look who's on Bass...... Not everyone can get Leyland Sklar to get on stage these days....

I'm in a wistful mood. My pine grove got infected with beetles after the last hurricane, and the loggers come tomorrow....

System of a Down  , oblivion album.  Stumbled onto them 20 years ago, just jumping back in. Original, loud, smart, heavy. They sound like they enjoy singing and playing.  When I saw them the guitarist had a korg multi effect duct taped to the front of his guitar.  And had it working killerly

Related:  there’s a producer named Sylvia massy who was big in that era and since. If you are into studio stuff including experimental techniques, check her out.

Original Fleetwood Mac, with Peter Green,  Need Your Love So Bad. Do your ears and soul a favor. Look it up. Then play it for your girl. Thank me later.

Robben Ford once told me that there is a lot of music on just the white keys on a piano. On guitar, Peter Green is a wonderful example of the beauty of playing only a few, necessary notes. He had (has?) that rare talent of saying a lot with just a couple of perfect notes.

In one of the outakes (on Pious Bird of Good Omen) for "Need Your Love So Bad" he can heard admonishing Fleetwood "Mick, don't push it so hard".  The temptation to overplay on a slow blues can be tough to resist.

Oleg. Ukrainian. He did plumbing work at my house last week and asked me to watch his video. Thought I’d post it here. He wrote it and performed in Lakewood, NJ.

Oleg, the Ukrainian fisherman and melodica player, needs to cover War Pigs.... or perhaps Iron Man  ;)

And thanks above for posting "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys"... that song has been going through my head for the past week+

The percentage you're paying is too high priced
While you're living beyond all your means
And the man in the suit has just bought a new car
From the profit he's made on your dreams
But today you just read that the man was shot dead
By a gun that didn't make any noise
But it wasn't the bullet that laid him to rest was
The low spark of high-heeled boys

Always been a: huge Winwood fan - here is an obscure (to me) recording of one his really good ones - skip to 2:37 if you don't care to hear tuning and chatter.

a timely tip.. these threads do a lot better when you don't quote previous posts and clog up the bandwidth :)

I think firefox and a couple other browsers attempt to load all the videos into memory while they display the page.

Post away, but we really only need one copy of a song on here LOL

Very interesting "Making of" vid ... back in the days before drum loops, auto-tune and such.   Primitive methods, but they pulled it off flawlessly.

Nice - got anything up on Soundcloud or Spotify?    I like the instrument mix - do you have to mic the stand up bass to get it to cut thru the banjo and mandolin? BTW - what kinda guitar is that?  Looks a little like an ancient Martin?

I mostlyplay a Breedlove mandolin live  (older before Kim Breedlove started having instruments made in China :( ) saving up for a Northfield  mandolin but at just over $5000 it's that or a new spinnaker (and I need a new spinnaker this year...so next year) (I record with that, my newly refurbished Martin A mando and a new Pono Octave Mandolin.

Tim plays a new Martin 000-17E (he liked my old Martin 000 so much he went out and got one for himself)

we play 2 ways..

1.if we are in a quiet setting (theater, hall, church, where the audience is actually "listening"  then we use 3 EAR Trumpet condenser mics and the bass runs through a DI box to the sound system

2. in a loud room (bar, large concert hall, outdoors, loud crowd....) the three EAR mics are for vocals only (unless it doesn;t sound  when there is a wall close behind us)in which case we all put our dynamic sure super 55's on display ....... all the instruments go direct.  The bass is split , to an amp on stage so we can hear him and also direct to sound system

Gotcha - Thanks for the Soundcloud link - work blocks it, but, I'll give it a listen when I get home.  Is this the same musician lineup of your last recording w/Buckeye Rooster?

no.  Just me and the banjo player...we wanted to find some better musicians....which we have :-)

I love Samantha Fish, here's Ally Venable, a 19 year old from Texas. I spent an hour or so playing with her last year, she is a real student of guitar and blues, and a very nice young lady.

My company helps sponsor blues acts that come to town, my wife and I also sometimes host dinners for the bands.

Most of them have chosen a tough road in life. We brought Mick Taylor to town about 15 years ago. Nice guy, but the years have not been kind to him.

B B King, Live at Cook County Jail.

When I worked for the Elgin, Joliet, & Eastern Railroad in Gary a coworker stood about 6-3 and 240.  BB & Bobby Blue Bland were playing at "Clayman's", the hottest night club in town.  I said, "You gotta take me".

He said, "No, I can't.
