I dunno who that Flowers guy is, but he needs to get a job at a car dealership. Crow wasn't at her best, but...... Look who's on Bass...... Not everyone can get Leyland Sklar to get on stage these days.... I'm in a wistful mood. My pine grove got infected with beetles after the last hurricane, and the loggers come tomorrow.... Owen 47 #10 Posted January 12, 2018 System of a Down , oblivion album. Stumbled onto them 20 years ago, just jumping back in. Original, loud, smart, heavy. They sound like they enjoy singing and playing. When I saw them the guitarist had a korg multi effect duct taped to the front of his guitar. And had it working killerly Related: there’s a producer named Sylvia massy who was big in that era and since. If you are into studio stuff including experimental techniques, check her out. Cruisin Loser 460 #15 Posted January 14, 2018 Robben Ford once told me that there is a lot of music on just the white keys on a piano. On guitar, Peter Green is a wonderful example of the beauty of playing only a few, necessary notes. He had (has?) that rare talent of saying a lot with just a couple of perfect notes. In one of the outakes (on Pious Bird of Good Omen) for "Need Your Love So Bad" he can heard admonishing Fleetwood "Mick, don't push it so hard". The temptation to overplay on a slow blues can be tough to resist.

Bump-n-Grind 256 #32 Posted January 29, 2018 a timely tip.. these threads do a lot better when you don't quote previous posts and clog up the bandwidth I think firefox and a couple other browsers attempt to load all the videos into memory while they display the page. I like the instrument mix - do you have to mic the stand up bass to get it to cut thru the banjo and mandolin? BTW - what kinda guitar is that? Looks a little like an ancient Martin? dacapo 481 #47 Posted February 7, 2018 I mostlyplay a Breedlove mandolin live (older before Kim Breedlove started having instruments made in China ) saving up for a Northfield mandolin but at just over $5000 it's that or a new spinnaker (and I need a new spinnaker this year...so next year) (I record with that, my newly refurbished Martin A mando and a new Pono Octave Mandolin. Tim plays a new Martin 000-17E (he liked my old Martin 000 so much he went out and got one for himself) we play 2 ways.. 1.if we are in a quiet setting (theater, hall, church, where the audience is actually "listening" then we use 3 EAR Trumpet condenser mics and the bass runs through a DI box to the sound system 2. in a loud room (bar, large concert hall, outdoors, loud crowd....) the three EAR mics are for vocals only (unless it doesn;t sound when there is a wall close behind us)in which case we all put our dynamic sure super 55's on display ....... all the instruments go direct. The bass is split , to an amp on stage so we can hear him and also direct to sound system
