Single burner gimbaled propane stove

Recommended Posts

Big fan of the jetboil and we have it setup on a gimbal, it works great for double handed racing but we have added a few crew and need something with more capacity would be nice to be able to do a full kettle of water in one go instead of 4-6 cycles.

There were some ideal options on the market a few years ago (like the forespar) but they have been discontinued and nowhere to be found in the secondary market.

Ideally we are looking for a gimbaled single burner propane stove capable of doing at least a ½ gallon of water at a time.

Does anyone know of a commercially available one?

If not does anyone have any experience constructing one?  Thinking a coleman stove and gimbal, but would much prefer an off the shelf solution.

Thanks

I bought a Forespar new as of 4 years ago, might check around and see if there's one on a shelf or on eBay. Good little unit, easy to use, but it'll take a while to boil 1/2 gal of water. Also limited the dia of pot that fits in the basket.

I've already had to weld my Forespar back together after someone fell on it.  Also managed to get a new knob from a now closed outdoor gear store after the old one broke.  Otherwise had to use the smallest vice grips I could find to turn it on and off.  Will keep fixing it as nothing else like it available.  BTW, you can fit a tall asparagus pot into it if looking for replacement pots.

dometic makes a gimbal mount for the Origo alcohol stoves. We used to have an Origo 2-burner on our Pearson and we loved it. 6-8 minutes to boil a quart of water.

Just bought a Maxie single -burner alcohol stove, boiled 1 litre of water in 12 mins. Our natural gas stove at home boils 1 litre in same pan, same dia burner in 8 mins. I think I can live with 50% more on the boat.
