Conquistador Joe runs for Senate seat

Recommended Posts

Trump sycophant and Top Hog Sheriff Joe Arpaio has announced he is running for US Senate, in the great state of Arizona. Since Sen. Jeff flaked out by declaring that the emperor has no clothes, the next bearer of the Republican standard will be a law-breaking, judicial contempt machine whose nicknames include "America's Toughest Sheriff", Wilie E Peyote & Lawrence of Insania.

He's set up jail's he's called "a concentration camp", has had about  160 prisoners die in his jails (he refused to provide an accurate count) and has twice been ruled to provide medical care so deficient that it was unconstitutional. He used a medieval restraint chair to lock down a paraplegic prisoner for hours who banged on his prison cell door to gain access to a catheter to allow him to empty his bladder... the prisoner was left with a broken neck and loss of the use of his arms. Prisoners  commit suicide at a rate 2-3 times that seen in other prison systems. Prisoners have baked to death in his jails, and his racism informs his law enforcement efforts.

When confronted on these issues, he obstructed investigations, destroyed evidence, was found in contempt of court, and accepted a presidential pardon for his crimes, indicating that he is guilty as charged.

The GOP has shown its hindquarters to family values by allowing Roy Moore to run for Senate. They show contempt for law enforcement and fair, transparent policing and basic American values if they allow these horrible men to represent their party. America deserves better and Republicans should be ashamed.

The child molester lost by only 1% of the vote. Arpaio is a shoo-in. So much for "burning this bitch down".

Not sure.  Three major tracking sites (Cook, Sabato and Inside Elections)  rated Arizona as  "tossup" before Joe's announcement. It's entirely possible that he drives the primary so far right, then say something so stupid  he becomes unelectable, that McSally can't get back to the middle in time. Ala Mittens.

More time and money that Republicans spend fighting each other the less they have to battle the Dems. You go, Joe! A better America needs your contribution.

Gonna be interesting to see if Arizonans are smarter or dumber than Alabamans.

He'll be 86 when he takes office?  His campaign platform will be Trump and me love each other?  Zero chance.  I think the idea is for him to drop out just before the primary and throw his support to another GOP candidate.

That, or maybe Arizonans are the dumbest bunch in the country.

Arpaio is one of four Republican convicts running for Congress.

Mark Twain had any number of observations all of which were dismissive of Congress.

This one probably fits here:

"It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress."

It's like playing whack-a-mole. Knock down Roy Moore and up pops Arpaio. Nothing too new in that. There has always been nut jobs running for, and elected to the Senate. It just seems that they are coming in bunches. A week or so ago Michelle Bachman was making noises about running for Al Franken's seat.

Watch Joe Arpaio learn acceptance of a pardon is an admission of guilt.  At least as far as the Supreme Court sees it (Burdick v. United States).

The good part starts at 4:20.

Well, to be fair, not many people do know accepting a pardon is legally an imputation of guilt and a confession thereof. Arpaio clearly grabbed at what Trump was offering without thinking about it or asking/listening to legal advice on the matter. So, you know, he's an idiot.

.Not if in jail or on probation/parole.  Relevance?  Arpaio was pardoned for a misdemeanor.

It would need to be felony for Trump to pardon, right?  He can't pardon state crimes.

Contempt of court is not a felony.  It was in US District Court.

The quote at the end of that video sums it up - “I support him, regardless of what he said”.  At 10:30, or so

So many of our fellow Anarchists are suffering from the same affliction. They care more about party and winning than they do about this country and for what it stands.

And, they sneeringly refer to their opponent as “sheeple”, while completely oblivious to their own hypocrisy.

Mike Pence was in Phoenix last night praising Sheriff Joe for  being a "tireless champion of strong borders and the rule of law.".

Man the reich wing has lost the plot. rule of law? Arpaio has utter contempt for the rule of law. He wants the rule of man, just like the rest  of the Trumpkin scumbags.
