      Abbreviated rules   07/28/2017

Underdawg did an excellent job of explaining the rules.  Here's the simplified version: Don't insinuate Pedo.  Warning and or timeout for a first offense.  PermaFlick for any subsequent offenses Don't out members.  See above for penalties.  Caveat:  if you have ever used your own real name or personal information here on the forums since, like, ever - it doesn't count and you are fair game. If you see spam posts, report it to the mods.  We do not hang out in every thread 24/7 If you see any of the above, report it to the mods by hitting the Report button in the offending post.   We do not take action for foul language, off-subject content, or abusive behavior unless it escalates to persistent stalking.  There may be times that we might warn someone or flick someone for something particularly egregious.  There is no standard, we will know it when we see it.  If you continually report things that do not fall into rules #1 or 2 above, you may very well get a timeout yourself for annoying the Mods with repeated whining.  Use your best judgement. Warnings, timeouts, suspensions and flicks are arbitrary and capricious.  Deal with it.  Welcome to anarchy.   If you are a newbie, there are unwritten rules to adhere to.  They will be explained to you soon enough.

From a pure logic perspective.   If you are saying Donnie is racist because of the “shithole” comment— is he racist because the country’s cited are predominantly black?

If that is the measure you are using; then is there a predominantly non-black country, from which large amounts of people of have emigrated to America, that has an economy similar to the countries Donnie cited?

Donnie is no f’n genius - but if you are going to call someone a racist, the case should be solid.

racism : prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior...

It's a little more than this recent issue.

I can't be fucked listing the things he's said and done throughout his inglorious "career" that earn him this judgment.

You think on it..Miss Housekeeping? the retweeting of UK nazi groups, sliding out of his support for KKK figures, his real estate issues.

The support for Joe A. his mexican rapist comments?

It walks and quacks etc..how far does he have to go before people like you decide there is no reasonable doubt?

He called predominantly black countries shitholes, then compared them to predominantly white countries which he implied were good.  That plus his calling Mexicans rapists, a Latino judge incapable because of his race, his acknowledgment that many neonazis are fine people, kinda makes the case.

He called some shithole countries that were prominently black shithole countries.   Then he compared them to a country that is not a shithole country that is predominantly white.

you see, relatively speaking..the the USA is just as big a shithole as the African continent.

For a first world continent  to have as many no go areas as it does, and as much poverty and poor infrastructure and inequity as it does..pretty much qualifies it for just as big a shithole as Africa.

How many times should a person make slightly-over-the-line racist comments before you are willing to conclude he is in fact a racist? Forever?

Frankly I don't understand the outrage. It's just more of the same; now if he'd proposed putting the KKK in charge of immigration vetting, now that would be ........ well, never mind. Some would take it as a suggestion.

The case that Trump is racist is weak.  He went 70 years with only being praised from minority groups for his investment in their communities.  Then he runs for president, and all of a sudden he is a racist.  The left never uses the race card to smear people.  Never.

Buffoon?  Ignorant about economics and the benefits of immigration?  Or maybe pandering to those who blame their problems on trade and immigration?  Could be.  Racist?  Not from the evidence seen so far.

Ummm, no.

Trump was convicted of racism in his rental policies. He's cozied up to the KKK every time the matter comes up publicly, starting back in the 1970s (or earlier). He's ranted on the news long before he became a political figure about black criminals. And of course the birther thing is not even the slightest bit racist, that's just a leftist smear.

Hope you enjoy living in your cloud castle. I bet you never stub your toes on actual facts up there.

So if you're are a conservative that likes something Trump has done but don't like Trump as a person, how do you express that appreciation for the policy without being labeled a Racist for supporting Trump?

Or is that really the point of this thread?

Quote

It starts in 1973, when the United States Department of Justice went to court with a discrimination complaint against the Trump family business, which rented apartments across Brooklyn and Queens. Coming from the administration of Richard Nixon, who was hardly a civil rights agitator, the complaint was based on an investigation that found four different Trump employees confirming that applicants for leases were screened by race. One rental agent said Trump’s father had told him not to rent to blacks and that he actually wanted to reduce the number of African Americans in his buildings. Three doormen said they had been instructed to deflect blacks who came to Trump buildings to apply for apartments.

Your standard for determining if someone is a racist is flawed.  All you did was post evidence that someone said that Trump's father was racist.  The allegation that Trump was convicted of something, and you posted no evidence that supports that allegation.  Not only that, all you did was post evidence that Trump was sued for racial discrimination.  In today's world it is hard to have a business for 50 years and not be sued for racial discrimination.

They settled with no admission of any wrongdoing.  No conviction or finding of anything.

"Former Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele said Friday “the evidence is incontrovertible” that President Trump is a racist following his reported remarks on Haiti and African countries.

In an appearance on MSNBC’s “Live with Hallie Jackson,” Steele was asked if he thinks Trump is racist. “Yeah, I do,” Steele said. “At this point…the evidence is controvertible.”

Steele also said Trump uses race as a tool “to move people emotionally to a space where he wants them to be to get a reaction out of them.”

“There are a whole lot of folks like Donald Trump,” Steele said. “White folks in this country who have a problem with the browning of America…When they talk about [wanting] their country back, they are talking about a country that was very safely white, less brown and less committed to that browning process.”

The stain is very difficult to cope with. At some point, you have to decide if it's worth it. OTOH look at the few upper level Republicans who have said that Trump's statements about Nazis being fine people, etc etc, are unacceptable. Look at Lindsey Graham (who has also done an embarassing amount of smooching Trump's butt) standing up and saying words to the effect of "You can't say things like that." He's from from South friggin Carolina FFS.

Distancing oneself from Trump's atrocious statements should be relatively easy, then separately you can point out whatever policies he takes credit for that you think are favorable.

I actually don't think there is a huge Democrat wave coming. They could not organize giving away lollipops on a play ground. And there are a large majority of Republicans who think Trump is fine, especially because if libby-rulls are pissed off then that's WINNING!!!

The thing that all too many Republicans don't realize is that Trump has no floor...... no brakes, no shame. That's for losers. He will sink lower and lower, and say more and more outrageous things. And the mainstream Republican power structure will go along because it's a useful distraction as well as raking in votes.

I am also not to sure about getting creamed in the fall. The Democrats can very easily screw up a two car funeral, a piss-up in a brewery, or perhaps disappear up their own assholes with a circular victimology firing squad. Black lesbians vs. hispanic trannies vs. gay white atheists vs. bisexual loggers vs.........

If we don't want people from "shithole countries" coming to America, shouldn't we also try to prevent freedom of movement within the US for people from "shithole counties?"

UN poverty official touring Alabama's Black Belt: 'I haven't seen this' in the First World

A United Nations official who tours the globe investigating extreme poverty said Thursday that areas of Alabama's Black Belt are suffering the most dire sewage disposal crisis of any place he has visited in a developed country.

"I think it's very uncommon in the First World. This is not a sight that one normally sees. I'd have to say that I haven't seen this," Philip Alston, the UN's Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, said as he toured a Butler County community where raw sewage flows from homes through exposed PVC pipes and into open trenches and pits.

Alston was in Alabama on Thursday to bear personal witness to the poverty, lack of access to basic services and civil rights struggles that have plagued poor, mostly African-American residents of the state's Black Belt region for generations.

Named for its rich soil and located in the southern half of the state, Alabama's Black Belt is part of a ribbon of counties that stretches across the South and has a long history of poverty and racial discrimination.

The visit is part of a 15-day tour of the U.S. that Alston and his team are conducting to gather information for a report on poverty and human rights abuses in America that they expect to release in spring. The UN contingent, which has already visited cities in California, is also hosting a full day of meetings with civil society organizations today in Montgomery, after which it will travel to Atlanta, Puerto Rico, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.

Why are YOU a racist? Why do you hate dark skinned people?

In the last two years I or members of my family traveled to:  Rwanda, South Africa, Lesotho, Tunisia, Tanzania, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Dubai, Lebanon, France, Italy, Germany, India, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Cuba, Peru, Japan, Turkey, Greece, Canada, Mexico, BVI, Barbados, and a few others.  Tracking all of our travels over the last two decades, we have collectively been in 125 different countries.

Notice that there are more than a few - say 3-4 billion - darker than white skin tones represented by those countries.

All of those countries have universal healthcare, btw.  And signed on to the Paris Climate Change agreement.

So just shut up with your nationalist/racist claptrap.  You are not only in the minority, but you are in a small and shrinking minority.

Read up on the consent decree's in the 70's.

Calling a shithole a shithole doesn't make one racist, it make one a shitholest.

You might have a point if he didn't specifically call Haiti and African nations shitholes then say Norway was nice.

If described shitholes are only populated by brown people? come one man. suck it up. He's a racist.

His counter example being the lily-white of lily-white just put an exclamation point on it.

the Drumpf probably has daddy's pointy hat in the closet in the west wing, the racist fuck.

Sums it up nicely.

Quote

• Trump’s real-estate company was sued twice by the federal government in the 1970s for discouraging the renting of apartments to African-Americans and preferring white tenants, such as “Jews and executives.”

• In 1989, Trump took out ads in New York newspapers urging the death penalty for five black and Latino teenagers accused of raping a white woman in Central Park; he continued to argue that they were guilty as late as October 2016, more than 10 years after DNA evidence had exonerated them.

• He spent years claiming that the nation’s first black president was born not in the United States but in Africa, an outright lie that Trump still has not acknowledged as such.

• He began his 2016 presidential campaign by disparaging Mexican immigrants as criminals and “rapists.”

• He has retweeted white nationalists without apology.

• He frequently criticizes prominent African-Americans for being unpatriotic, ungrateful and disrespectful.

• He called some of those who marched alongside white supremacists in Charlottesville last August “very fine people.”

• He is quick to highlight crimes committed by dark-skinned people, sometimes exaggerating or lying about it (such as a claim about growing crime from “radical Islamic terror” in Britain). He is very slow to decry hate crimes committed against dark-skinned people (such as the murder of an Indian man in Kansas last year).

• At the White House yesterday, Trump vulgarly called for less immigration from Haiti and Africa and more from Norway.

The truth is not racist, it's just the truth. Haiti is a shithole, Norway is not.

Slovenia is a shithole, should we ship the First Lady out on the first boat?

Haiti is a shithole.  We should welcome their hard working people to come here and make a better life for themselves.

Tourism numbers suggest you may be the minority. Of the continent, only South Africa make the list of " Top 100 most visited countries"" coming in at #100.
