SAN to Escondido, transit options.

Recommended Posts

Normally the MIL would pick us up but not this time. I need to get from SAN to Escondido. Super Shuttle has gotten very expensive, $128 for two people!

I think this time we will try the Coaster train service to Oceanside then the Sprinter into Escondido where the MIL can get us.

Couple questions about the trains, do you need to make a reservation or can we just walk up? How much of a hassle is it to get from the airport to the Coaster station?

Other options that are cost effective?

Thanks

Have you looked at flying into Carlsbad?

Do you mean SNA (John Wayne Airport)?   If so how much is it from the airport to the train station in Santa Ana?  If you're going to Santa Ana, pack your kevlar...  just saying......

They have kiosk at the train station where you'll be able to buy a ticket...  shouldn't have a problem getting on the train...

That said $128 for two people is a pretty darn good price...  for a Town Car!

Flying into San Diego via southwest for $88 round trip. I doubt Carlsbad would be cost competitive. But I will check it out for our next trip.

I think my rental kar advice was the best solution

What wifie wouldn't Love to be picked up @ SAN

and enjoy riding a Harley up the Coast then across to the last civilization before Harrah's Rincon Casino  (East) or RiverSide (North) = Escondido

what Hubbie would walk to Old Town to catch the Coaster while wifie tours PCH to arrive at destination in 25 min

I do in fact assure the Safe, Timely Arrival of people desiring to go between places throughout SoCal (starting or ending in DAGO)

But I think what I could offer might be a little OverKill for 2

following PIX from my last outingImage may contain: outdoor

Image may contain: outdoor

I have helped many over the years with rides (mostly 2 race) and other things

for those who inquired in advance

$50 for a Guber is NOT going to send that driver to Collage after expenses much less driving back for nothing

$128 just to get there is a Rip

To ride in a Limo Bus $128 will get me almost to where I would be picking you up :)

I say rent a Kar and be on your own schedule, Gouber/Lift is da next beast option

and if you haven't been using them you can get a $50 discount offer (not all one ride but$10 each)

Carlsbad to SAN and back via Uber last October averaged around $35 each way, add 15 miles and approximately 33% plus one more person?

Plus you can imbibe with the little bottles on the plane without worry...

No, it's not an issue. I'm not looking for a free ride, just options. And I've had a few of those "jobs" can't say I miss them much.

Arrive the 23rd. Straight up to Escondido. We will have a day or so back down in San Diego.

This trip was a spur of the moment idea. Back in October we were sitting in my Sister-in-laws condo on Maui. I check Southwest randomly looking for deals. Found they were doing one way to SAN from DEN for $40 So I booked a couple flights just cuz.

Now we are actually looking forward to riding the train, at least once. It may suck but it's worth a shot.

What time are you getting in ??

I might be able to pick you up and bring to Guadalajara Grill in Old Town

Great happy Hour and quite often people are indulging before walking over to the Coaster (Brilliant Idea)

Thanks, all is OK for now.

Typical story, elderly man falls and breaks a hip, but in TN. Spends a couple weeks out there after getting some hardware placed then flies back to CA. So what is most likely to happen? He is very lucky to have survived a saddle clot, didn't occlude the lungs. He just came out of surgery and is in ICU.

My wife and I are going to San Diego tomorrow to poke around some boats.
