Brutally Honest Weather Forecasters

Recommended Posts

The only weather forecast I trust is spacecityweather.com. He got us through Harvey.! Guy is a gem, tells it like it is with no drama. A+

Best weather forecast I have ever heard was from a local radio station as we were anchored in a quiet cove. "You're gonna have some weather and you're just gonna have to deal with it"

He was right. We had some, and we dealt with it (much to Mrs. WL dismay)

It's only MAY FFS

How do people even survive the summer there?

Brown Arrows indicate, um .. 'soil your dacks' weather.

A running joke here for years, we finally made them live. Nothing beats a solid 35+ knots, and to be out in it as a kiter/windsurfer is really exciting stuff, but without a doubt there a moments when you might fill your shorts. Let alone if you're out in a small boat in these conditions.

Indicates wind 35 knots+

The app What's The Forecast is delightfully profane and curmudgeonly about the weather. There's a setting for profanity level...the screen shot's in the App store don't share screen shots the more off color commentary.

Here is one we did for a 12ft Skiff Newsletter,  To understand 12's have 4 different size rigs depending on the wind strength

The funniest forcasts I've heard were "the line of severe thunderstorms and hail has moved harmlessly out to sea" (Off Qld coast).

and "expect 100+ knot winds and feeno-menal seas", which took a moment to register as "phenomena" seas.  (Off Fiji, cyclone Osea).

Both were right.
