Bomb Cyclone - Life and Death!

Recommended Posts

I have no pics, but the carnage in the boatyard is fairly impressive with another high tide in a couple of hours.  Lots of trees and limbs down, with accompanying power outages.  I'll try to get some pics when the water goes down again.

Waves crash over houses in Scituate, Mass., on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

I went to see Epic Surf in South Mission Beach

Stood up on a retaining wall in front of a house across BoardWalk from stubby SeaWall

A Huge Wave not unlike that one 2X Overhead came shooting across right at me

I just stood there knowing my only chance to remain was to keep standing

The wave went past me and slammed the house behind

As the water washed back out it moved 4" thick concrete patio tables and benches And Cars

When I looked at me I was Only Wet on one side

I guess at my height it was mostly Foam

Had I jumped down I would have been getting Slammed into Hard things

The other side of the pond isn't looking any better...and cold

Holyhead in Wales was hit hard by Emma.  Pretty well everything broke loose.  That's the ex-Team Pindar Farr 45 Espresso Martini on the bricks on the left.

For you Californians, all that white stuff is snow or sea ice.

Last one from Holyhead.  Even the commercial fleet got hammered.

Why am I thinking of a Styrofoam ban on floating docks ?

Ummmm.... that's floating sea ice.  Bloody cold there.

But you're right about Styrofoam.  There must be mountains of it still swilling around the Pacific after the Japanese tsunami washed all the fishing stuff out to sea.

To quote the theme song from “The Beverly Hills Billy’s” “California’s the place you aught to be!”

Apparently not dramatic enough.

Shop flooded again today at high tide -just a little- making six in a row. You would remember it as the old Graves lower yard Tom. That's plenty enough drama for us.

Wow.  That's exactly how I would remember it.  They built Nefertiti and Easterner there.  I was the young kid who watched it happen.  My old man was, in his second career, the broker at the Front Street yard.  Good good memories.
