No, you can't blame social media.  And I believe you mean the opposite of "the dearth" of BS social media.

Facebook started off on the campus of Harvard University and originally was limited to only Harvard students.  It was the need for people to get attention that lead to its popularity.

Your statement is blaming social media is ludicrous given your stance that guns are merely tools, it is the user that causes the problem. Same thing here.

I am worried about you Jeff, you seem to be upset about something, and it isn't anything here.  You are getting out of control and increasingly irrational.  Are there problems in your desert paradise?

The only issue in my desert paradise is that work gets in the way of my racing.  And Bacon is available, but expensive.

It was always thus. Now you are merely becoming aware of it because it's out in the open.

Remember all those little old ladies who shared houses?

They weren't just roomies.

Remember all those "confirmed bachelors"?

It wasn't because they just didn't want to marry

Yes obituaries from back in the day would say' Blah blah, full life, blah bah he leaves behind many friends, blah blah, although a social man, he never married.'

Read the big bold words in RED and tell me if they mean the same thing as the big blue words in BLUE.

(Hint: They do not)

Nobody - not one single anti-gun person - says shooters are blameless for their actions. Suggesting so makes you look like an idiot.

They facilitate violence and increase its deadliness by orders of magnitude. That's the part you nutterz like to evade.

I think it's part of the Trump effect, there has been a significant decline in civility everywhere since the primaries were over.  But that's a subject for PA!

A friend had one of those - it was scary - the brakes and suspension were in a much lower performance arena than that brute engine.

You could outrun them in a heartbeat.

I friend of mine that I worked with had a '77 Firebird Formula 400 like the one below, except his was dark blue metal flake and he paid a lot of money to have multi colored flames airbrushed on the hood, and along either side of the car  I wasn't so confident in the parts you mentioned above either.  Until one night we were going down the road about 75 mph in a 55 mph zone and we came to a pretty sharp curve.  I was just thinking about how my parents would probably miss me, when we shot out the other side of the curve intact, if not in the proper lane.  But I wouldn't ever want to do that again.   We worked at a huge factory in town and he sold the car after about a year because he was so paranoid about his paint job getting fucked up in the parking lot at work, he didn't want to deal with the anxiety anymore.  So he bought a Jeep instead!

That somebody in their beat up pickup truck or 'winter car' would park next to him and open their door and ding the paint.  He paid a lot of money for the custom paint job, I doubt that he got his money back when he sold the car.  The parking lots were huge, the factory employed about 14,000 people at the time.  He would park as far from the crowds as he could and then have to walk a half a mile to get to the building we worked in.  My parent house where I lived at the time was about the same distance from the factory, he could have just parked his car in our driveway and saved himself a lot of stress.  I almost always walked to work, no matter the weather, it didn't make any sense to drive there and then walk about as far to my building anyway.

My family hates when I drive them anywhere in Black Beauty. I always park as far away from everyone as I possibly can. I would much rather hear the groans as I drive around looking for a “Dad space” to park her, followed by the groans about the long (sometimes a minute or two) hike to our destination, than have a door ding.

Nothing wrong with that, people are awfully inconsiderate nowadays and think nothing of whacking another car with their door.  The only thing I hate is when someone takes 2 or 3 spaces, parking diagonally to protect their 'precious'.  That's just wrong.

Yep and it sucks now with most modern "Keyless fobs" that there isn't anything sharp to key the side of their car with.

There was a dickhead here in Hobart who liked doing that - park straddling the white line taking 2 parking spaces. Ferrari driver.

I was driving a beat-up Mitsubishi 4WD utility at the time which had about one straight panel - I'd owned if for over 20 years and it had been well used. Since I didn't like the selfish arsehole taking 2 spots, I parked about 2mm off of the driver's door. Really hoped someone would join in & do the same on the other side.

When I got back he was gone. There was no point trying to dent or scratch my truck, I wouldn't have noticed or cared, and what else could he do? Call the cops?

We had a guy on our construction crew who ran the small concrete batch plant. There were two high piles adjacent to the plant, one of sand and the other of gravel. Each cone must have been 40 feet high at the auger that topped them off and sloped off at at least a 45 degree angle. Almost impossible to climb/crawl up the gravel pile and the sand pile was a bit easier to climb. Not that you really ever had to go up there as long as the auger was working. The concrete guy thought he was much higher up the site pecking order and would often park his 4WD Jeep in front of the limited parking spaces in front of the trailer that served as the offices.  The Big Boss on the site told him repeatedly to park down by the batch plant office which was a tin roof lean to but the guy insisted even after many warnings and getting cussed out. Every other Friday was payday and he took the chance on parking in the pole position in front of the office after lunch so he could be the first to grab his check in a couple of hours and roar off to the bank and then on to the bar.

The boss was aware of this habit and after watching the guy head off to his batch plant after leaving his Jeep in the forbidden spot, the boss got on the radio and called the 50 Grove crane operator to bring the machine and lift the Jeep up on the very top of the gravel pile and leave it there. The whole crew of 200+ workers were all milling around awaiting the checks to be hauled out and the word was out about the Jeep. Just as the door opened and the supervisors were given the stack of their respective crew members checks to distribute the concrete plant foreman hadn't noticed his Jeep missing from where he had parked it. His crew being the smallest he was always the first to be able to clear out and everyone fell silent when he turned around and couldn't find his wheels! He started cussing and the Big Boss stepped out onto the porch and told him he had been warned and pointed up to the top of the gravel pile. The idiot went fussing and fuming over to the pile and started scrambling up the pile looking like something out of a Road Runner cartoon. He finally made the top and climbed in and started the Jeep up and gunned it an launched it halfway down the slope when he popped the clutch. We all would have bet our checks that he wouldn't successfully make it to the bottom without rolling or flipping over the front bumper but those big knobby tires at full throttle in granny gear just threw an avalanche of gravel out ahead and he made it to the bottom and upshifted and roared on down the dirt road throwing dust and pea gravel in everyone's faces!

He had more than a few drinks bought for him later at the bar...

So.... I've been dating this transwoman for a month and here's my take. I've done the research and everyone agrees, they're hardwired different. When it happens no one knows, but it happens early, either they're born that way or it happens in the first year of life. Either way its real and strange. Like a Scifi flick from the 60s. Living in the wrong body. Once I learned this, I have no issues with it whatsoever. So many become 'other', lesbians or bisexual, so even so, there's got to be some dysfunction there somewhere. Otherwise. ..

One thing I hate is I have to lube up everytime. There's almost no natural wetness. Oh well.
