What the CBO really said

Recommended Posts

While Dog's thread cherry picked a couple of years' worth of predictions, the thrust of the report is a warning that the national debt will continue to increase, and will reach 100% of GDP by 2028.

That's why you should read the actual report, and not some WSJ opinion piece.

Dog, what would be your primary targets for significant spending reductions?

If I were king: Dept of Education....gone.  Department of homeland security...gone. Department of housing and urban development....gone.  Then we could talk about across the board cuts.

Dog thinks illegals are really bad and a huge problem but wants to eliminate customs & border patrol. As well as the coastguard.

It's like he doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

Jiblet apparently doesn't think customs and border control can exist without DHS

The boat is sinking so you turn off all the pumps that might hose rich people, then just worry about the little drips  instead of the big hole.     Notice the date.   This was before we bumped spending on the nations credit card.

What part of "then we can talk about across the board cuts" did you not get?

Pretend the country is your personal island, where you live with your extended family.   You are of course a village elder.  You live in a conservative utopia, there is no social security or other government handouts from outside the island.    You have a huge credit card without an unknown max from an outside bank.    You have income from various members working, and some trade.   Actually you buy a lot from other islands.

Some of those you trade with are better educated.   Some steal your ideas, others work harder.    Yet book learning is deemed wasteful and little effort is spend educating the kids in non religious matters, especially your nephews living in the center of the island.

The sea used to be quite lawless, so everybody has a lot of guns.    The bully on another island outsmarts you by buying influence, secretly hiring a couple nephews to lobby for him at the family meetings.   Your gun smith keeps making more guns, and you build more patrol boats.

The generator is old, the wiring cobbled together.   The buildings are beat up, some of the roofs need patched again.   Hurricanes keep getting worse, but that’s normal so there is no need to move further inland.

Your solution is to leave training of your grandkids and grand nephews to their parents, for good or bad.   Get rid of the building club that helps make sure the poorer cousins also get a hut, even if there are no bamboo trees nearby.   Make sure no new blood is allowed on the island.   Buy a few more guns.   And of course make sure the community keeps paying for doctors visits for yourself and the other retired people that no longer do any work even if those still working cannot afford medicine either and can’t work without it,       It wasn’t fair that the guys in the big houses their dad’s built had to pay more then the rest huddled in their huts.  you naturally stop passing around the jar to fund the government, since you cut services to everybody but the old and the military,   Put those two things on the credit card for your great grandkids to pay for.

Am Ii missing something?

Easy peasy - take that money from sick old people and give it to the military.

Stands to reason - it's just about the worst thing to ever happen to the country.

Of course people are interested in it.

Jiblet's an all or nothing guy.  That's the way the Moyl treated him and he seeks equalization in every matter.

Just cut all of the spending that the democRATS like, and do small, across the board cuts to the stuff that the Americans like.
