HOMERUN - Beyond anyone's expectations.

Sorry kent but your predictable lefty spin is BS. The document they signed commits NK to the complete and permanent denuclearization of NK in exchange for security guarantees from the US. President Trump specifically sais Removal of US troops from SK was not on the table nor was the nuclear umbrella we protect all our allies with. In the latter case it would be an impossible promise to make.

Joint Statement of President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea at the Singapore Summit

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a first, historic summit in Singapore on June 12, 2018.

President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth, and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Convinced that the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following:

1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.

2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Having acknowledged that the U.S.-DPRK summit — the first in history — was an epochal event of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in this joint statement fully and expeditiously. The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-up negotiations, led by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the U.S.-DPRK summit.

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have committed to cooperate for the development of new U.S.-DPRK relations and for the promotion of peace, prosperity, and security of the Korean Peninsula and of the world.

I'll park this assessment in this thread since the writer who created this thread made the boldest claim.

Analysis: By Trump's own yardstick, NKorea pact falls flat
Updated: JUNE 12, 2018 — 6:11 AM EDT
SINGAPORE (AP) - After all the hype, all the vows to tackle what's perhaps the world's most urgent crisis, President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un fell short of the kind of deal the U.S. president himself has long said is needed to settle the North's decadeslong pursuit of nuclear weapons.

For months, Trump has been railing against presidents past, accusing them of an inexcusable failure to solve the nuclear threat emanating from the North. On Tuesday, he patted himself on the back for signing a "comprehensive" pact with Kim paving a path toward denuclearization, but the contours appeared far weaker than even his predecessors' failed deals.
..............

Yet line up all the bold claims Trump and his lieutenants made ahead of Tuesday's summit, and it's clear that the end result, at least where nukes are concerned, don't hit the mark. That's especially striking after last year's exchange of threats and insults between Trump and Kim, just as North Korea's torrid weapons testing had many fearing a renewal of the Korean War.

There was irony in the fact that Trump and Kim made direct reference in their agreement to the so-called Panmunjom Declaration between Moon and Kim, with its weak, reheated commitment to denuclearization that lacked specifics at how the rivals would get there. Similarly, there was nothing specific on nukes in Tuesday's declaration - and no joint affirmation of the goal of "complete, verifiable and irreversible" dismantlement that Trump's aides had previously made the litmus test for success.

You unparalleled stupid idiots. Kim Jong-un was 10 years old  in 1994. He signed nothing. Obviously none of you are an "independent MIT rocket surgeons".

As for the next step Trump was candid in his interview with Stephy and said maybe in year he will say he made a mistake. And no, he didn't joke he would make an excuse in that interview.

Yesterday was a huge positive and one that can still go either way. NK has more to lose than we do if it does. Kim wants economic progress to keep his country happy and the alternative would be a doubling down on harsh sanctions and he knows it.

I'm willing to bet this will lead to rapid progress and verifiable de nuclearization.  You all were insisting he would never AGREE to give up his nukes. You even argued there would never be a summit. Well there was and he did promise in a very public way. So score two huge victories for Trump and a zero for all of you.

As long as the South is protected with nukes the North keeps its nukes is what Trump has agreed to.

The declaration ccommits to denuclearization of the Korean peninsula not NK unilaterally. That is no nukes in Korea at all. NK has made it clear multiple times the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula means ending the U.S. regional nuclear umbrella there and in the current joint statement it seems the US agrees. There is agreement on removing all nukes from Korea with no exceptions carved out for US nukes.

That signed statment constitutes the agreement not the explanatory spin on TV and Twitter. Where in that statments does it state that the U.S. regional nuclear umbrella is not a part of the "denuclearization".

You can declare mission accomplished, declare victory and move on but the reality is that NK won this round.

I agree with Hapless Jack. Trump agreed to stop military exercises with SK and got nothing in return. He shook LiL Kim's hand for a photo-op and legitimized a dictator....that's a slight improvement over tweeting belligerent childish insults. So, considering that we're talking about Trump, the results did exceed expectations...as getting a D-  exceeds an expected F.  When the bar is set as low as Trump, walking and chewing gum exceeds expectations.

Nope. He never said he grabbed anyone's pussy. He answered Billy Bush's question by giving a hyperbolic extreme example.

Trump:  "And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."

Bush: "Whatever you want?"

Trump:"Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything."

From the News corp site..

"IN what was surely the most awkward moment of Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un’s summit, the US President made one lighthearted remark that went down like a lead balloon.

As the pair prepared to sit down for a working lunch after their morning meetings, Mr Trump told photographers: “Getting a good picture everybody? So we look nice and handsome and thin, and perfect.”

The comment was translated for Kim and the camera zoomed in just in time to catch the North Korean leader looking shocked, then appalled."

I’m giddy!

Trump just saved us a bunch of moolah handing over suzerainty of Chinese and international waters near mainland and southeast China to the Chinese!  This will result in Billions of dollars saved in training, games, and joint operations.  I can see a reduction of Navy personnel and equipment in the offing, saving us even more dollahs, baby.  Now if we could just get rid of North Pacific obligations, even more savings!  I think once Trump makes a deal with Russia giving them rights to the Northwest Passage (and face it, those Canadians have lost any right to protect their own waters, or expect us to help them out, after the knife in the back of the Canadian PM towards our wise and beautiful leader!;)) we can expect more defense savings.  Britain will be out of the picture soon, and Scandinavia really can’t even afford a Navy, so Russia will share duties with us to patrol the North Seas.

Trump is an equal among equals when it comes to The 3 World’s strongest men!

Only he can save the world!  All hail our wise and brilliant leader!

Xi, Trump& Putin!  To Each his own!  To each his own sphere!  Together they embody the future of mankind!  The US cannot and should not police the world!

XTP! They’ll get things done!  XTP!  They’ll get things done!

A better world awaits us!

LM is selflessly showing us the way!  Service to all at the expense of himself!  Let us lift him on our shoulders and carry him through the streets!

Huzzah!  Huzzah! Huzzah!

Gotta love the thread title. "Beyond anyone's expectations".  I think Trump does that everyday, and the poor bastards in his cabinet have to deal with it.

Stopping joint military excercises with South Korea was certainly beyond everyone's expectations, most notably South Korea's.

He showed up to the summit with pants on.  There's another one. I've got more.

Happy marlaky three.  Its not a homerun yet.  It was a single, at best, in the top of the first inning.  There is a lot of game to yet be played.  Get a beer and settle in for the duration.  Its going to be a long process.

Well, the fact that Kim got many of his goals achieved right out of the box while the US got nothing except a wedge between us and our longstanding ally South Korea may affect the process playing forward.

Did we even get a formal end to the Korean War? I haven't seen that mentioned.

Seems rather odd that the right-wingers would all be gleeful over an agreement with no verification signed with a country that we are at war with.

Here's something that also seems a bit odd. Malarkey is an expert on hypocrisy. If he could take Trump's dick out his mouth for a couple minutes, maybe he can explain it to us.

Are these people so stupid as to actually believe what they say or are they just cynical scum?

I can't see a third alternative.

They are playing to Trump's base, the members of which can't keep up.

If they apparently don't remember that Trump contradicted himself 72 hours ago, I doubt they have a clue as to what anyone on Fox News said years ago.

You can't stand that he pull this off; can you? Did you stamp your feet and scream too?

What did he pull off? There is no treaty or official pact. Just a statement that means nothing.

Not many of you thought the meeting would happen.

A number of you predicted Kim would just embarrass Trump and go home.

A lot of you said there would be no agreement of any kind.

A whole lot of you said Kim would never put his nukes on the table.

Many on the left were saying Trump was steering us into a nuclear war.

The odds of Kim denuclearizing 6 months ago was universally regarded as zero percent chance.

after the Summit was announced, maybe 10%

After Kim's visit to the Olympic, maybe 15%

After Kim's visit to SK maybe 20%

I'd argue the consensus today is at least 40%.

So yeah it's a huge deal and progress was made.

I guess you missed the part where the USA has immediately given up their S Korea war games, and the new story about the Nork news announcing that the sanctions will be lifted.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-usa-sanctions/north-korea-state-media-says-trump-agreed-to-lift-sanctions-against-north-idUSKBN1J9022

Looks too me at this point like little Kim got what he wanted, and we got promises of things too come, talk is cheap.

If in, 6-12-18 or 24 months, anything substantial changes in North Korea, then yes you might be right, but not now, its simply too soon and only speculation.

You are thinking too much.  The 3rd way stares at you from the mirror.

Feelings are the only reality.

Darwinian logic has taken another step re survival of the fittest - survival is all about emotion now.

Think about it it a few minutes more before you jettisoned outworn logic, there are

- supporters

- those on the edge

- enemies of the state

True here, and true where else?

Feel it.

Join.

Thinking & remembering, they will bring you nothing but pain.  Feel love.  Live in it’s moment.  Then life is only it’s flicker of the moment.

This is the future.

Earth is hell.

Go ahead, make your bet on Kim and Trump. Seems the country has decided that Trump Casino is the GOP way to do national policy.

But consider: our previous leaders didn't put our alliances on the table.

Those are some very impressive percentages you have pulled straight from your ass.   Best to sandbag a bit to leave yourself room for bigger ones later in the week.

I wonder what these gullible fools would have said if Obama did the exact same thing?

Gee - that's a tough one isn't it?

Post #66 shows what they said when he so much as mentioned attempting it.  I had asked Malarkey his take on that, but he hasn't responded yet. I always ask him the toughies.

All that happened was two cunts with bad hair and appalling dress sense held each other's tiny hands. One attended to feed his giant ego and the other to save his own arse. Neither give a fuck about the people they rule over and both would be living in a cardboard box if their daddies didn't give them an empire. Both now think they are legitimate leaders. Both lie about their height but only one has to pay to fuck porn stars.

The only thing that came from this is a angry thrice married Morman with a tiny cannon now has a red raw Dick and RSI of the wrist.

Words. Just words. I might believe when I see some action. Otherwise, this looks like a bad reboot of a crappy movie.

Good news, folks. On Kim denuclearizing in 6 months, I'd argue the consensus is 50%.

Consider Malarkey's last update, and that's a 10% increase on less than an hour.

Suck on that one, libs.
