Good on DF, they will win theirs by being French offshore sailors - doing the homework, picking their route and sticking to their guns, same thing as leg 1 their first lap of the planet. 

Lots to cheer for here and that is exactly what the race needed.

 

fighting for eyes against the World Cup, and a f1 race in France, will be interesting to see what suare of eyes they end up with

I can't believe when I first got attached to this race following it involved buying a bunch of newspapers every Saturday morning  hoping the race was mentioned. The detail finally came out in sailing magazines a month or so later.

Now we watch it live. Fuck.

Was this luck from DF? Were they forced by MApfre's better speed to make a decision that, in the end, turned out to be the right one? Or did they decide on this on their own, so not forced by circumstances? In any case, happy for them. ANy of the top 3 deserved it...

Looks like DFRT snatches the price! I was just at the docks as Zeilhelden tries make dock interviews after the finish. Eta 1715 CEST. Crowds are huge here and the sea is full with boats. Cannot upload pics as I cannot downsize them...

I still can't get over what Pascal has done and then the team has driven that boat down the inside groove alone with no pace boats. Awesome.

Nope their onshore gang stated on video that this was their pre- plan since norwayNorway

The sophistication of navigation is at a vastly higher level than this. The final call is Pascal in the moment, but the play book was worked out in conjunction with the support crew before they left the dock.

For TTOP fans, there is another week to wait for the final result! 

At current positions, they will be tied on overall points with Scally. The tiebreaker is the In-port series results, and Ttop could theoretically still beat Scally next week at the Hague In-Port, as they are only 3 points behind. Unlikely perhaps, but still possible...

So happy for DF! Five years of hard work, team work, and leadership.Charles, his long time mates "Iron Balls" Pascal, and "Mr. Fix It" Kevin Escoffier, and a crew of superb sailors and individuals that never lost faith in their skipper, and each other. What a finish. In solidarity with DF I have not slept since  Gothenburg so it is time for bfst and a sleep. Not sure if Jack slept during the entire race!
