Clevis Pins

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 1984 Catalina 25 tall rig and have been going through the boat cleaning and inspecting.  All of the standing rigging is shiny, no rust, no meat hooks.  All of the swaged eyes used at the upper ends of the shrouds have 10 mm holes, and the SS fittings on the mast match, except for the clevis pins for the forestay and backstay.  They go through holes drilled in the cast aluminum masthead, and are 8 mm.  The eyes show no distortion and the pins are straight.  Should I be concerned about this mis-match?

Thx, George

No. But they are probably frozen in place. Catalina buys in bulk, using one part across a wide range of boats, even if over strength/individually higher priced. Bulk buying gets better discounts, & less different parts cuts inventory costs. Many boats at this level will use all one size rigging wire for the same reasons.
