Many of these folks on the right seem to have the think not thing down pat.

The ironic thing is "conservatives" argue the marxist few of economics - that economics is the driving force behind the world.

Okay, now we have my rant.  There are many economies that work.  There is not only one way.  There are many societies and how those societies deal with the management of scarcity is their economics.  There is less scarcity in some societies than others.  Even within the US, we have societies such as the state of Louisiana that are terrible in their management and societies such as the very rich Hutterite communities that I am sure few of us would thrive in.  The important thing is that there is more than one way to a successful economy.  The Scandinavian countries and Canada have successful economies based on different societal values than the US.  China has a successful economy based on different societal values than the US.  There may be only one style of successful economy for the self-centered, value sucking, other people than my personal sphere don't count sort of person.  I keep on hearing the self centered think that the "symphony of self interest" comes about without any work or equity on their part.  One of the truisms of Adam Smith was that business was only to be conducted by gentlemen.  The concept of behaviour of a gentleman was well defined at that time.  Now it seems to have degenerated into the attitude of the "my handshake is my word" sort of business transaction.  Last time I truly got taken for a ride was by a born-again Christian.  His fines did not matter to him.  After a time of prayer and contemplation, he asked forgiveness from his congregation, not his victims, which was of course gladly given and all was right again.  He has apparently done this several times.

And r'iblet goes for the lame attempt at a deflect. AOC's hot take on PBS was "Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs."

Politifact rates that as "pants on fire", Factcheck rates it "false".

Aww, look at the cute attempts to insult when someone brings up AOC's gaffes. I guess the almighty (D) after the name is protection from anything they might say.

So - the bpm57 hot take is a speaking gaffe means you don't know what you are talking about? Funny how that D behind the name gets you all hot and bothered.

Exasperated

Quote

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already making enemies in the House Democratic Caucus — and some of its members are mounting an operation to bring the anti-establishment, democratic socialist with 2.2 million Twitter followers into the fold.

The effort, described by nearly 20 lawmakers and aides, is part carrot, part stick: Some lawmakers with ties to Ocasio-Cortez are hoping to coax her into using her star power to unite Democrats and turn her fire on Republicans. Others simultaneously warn Ocasio-Cortez is destined for a lonely, ineffectual career in Congress if she continues to treat her own party as the enemy.

“I’m sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there’s almost an outstanding rule: Don’t attack your own people,” said Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.). “We just don’t need sniping in our Democratic Caucus.”

We may not have a lot of common ground when it comes to policy, but I love that she took on a "can't lose" establishment candidate and won and is now exasperating the establishment by saying bad things about the Team.

Well, if that is really how unemployment was calculated she might have a point. The problem is, r'iblet, it isn't done that way.

Just like the DoD $700B budget increase. The one AOC complained about.

And yet it was you that brought the discussion into the gutter. But it is nice to know that my opinion that AOC isn't a superhero makes me a "slimy toad".

Anything to deflect the discussion, right?

Incels.  Our trolls are poor little incels.  That's got to be the answer.

Just obsessed with a chick who both dances on a roof top and walks the halls power.  Drives them up the wall.

Maybe we should start up a GoFundMe for lotion.

Well what do you think she meant with this comment to the Washington  Post?

“So enjoy being exhausted for the next two years while we run train on the progressive agenda,” Ocasio-Cortez

Unless you're going to claim Doctor Who works for AOC and went back in time to post this, it would seem this slang definition makes more sense than your weird fantasies.

Where did you think I got the definition from, dip-stick? Go ahead, scroll down. And that definition makes a lot more sense than your interpretation given she is a progressive. Makes sense to my kids too, but then again, I'm not an old white guy so buried up my own ass I can't grasp the fact that she might mean something that makes sense.

Sure thing

There are 7 definitions listed 1-5 have to do with sex.  The last 2 including the one you cherry picked have to do with gaming IE XBOX PLAYSTATION ect.

She is a young millennial from the Bronx   Everyone she would know from her neighborhood, to school, from the bar she tended,  to her current pals  knew what she meant and it had zero to do with gaming

I certainly have only heard the "work on" definition.  Just don't use the word "fanny" in Australia

What the fuck? There's no such thing as an error here. It's intentional. It's gotta be. If you admit that people can make errors your whole bullshit edifice of picking apart AOC will collapse Private Pansy.

Not sure if that is English,  I'll say this working with Millenials words and statements that I would never say in public are common and not always meant in an offensive manner.  They are just part of their vocabulary

Do tell.  I am thinking of the "N word", but that is hardly part of the millenial lexicon.

On my first trip to the UK - I rented a bike to go ride with an internet forum motorcycling buddy.  His wife is from Pennsylvania.  Anyway - I had a fanny pack to carry my wallet/stuff - and when we went to leave Aitch's place, I asked Mary if she saw my Fanny pack.  She got red faced, AItch started laughing, and informed me that to them, the fanny was in front, and not a polite thing to say in mixed company, and that the phrase "fanny pack" was a vulgar connotation for rough intercourse.

My god, you are a thick one aren't you? Millennials play computer games dipshit. All the fucking time. Common phrases, memes, and other cultural touchstones (such as sayings) come from that too. You even chose a source that said exactly (word for italicised word) what I said. You just don't know when you've fucked up and should bow out.

Which do you think makes more sense - a progressive saying they're going to gang-bang their own agenda or a progressive saying they're going to go to work together on their agenda (to which there is competition)? Try, if you can, to put your sick fantasies about Pelosi out of your head and use common sense. If you have any.

As an old white guy that don't game, and ain't all that woke, it's beyond ridiculous to suggest she meant that the way brother Kavanaugh might have. She meant to kick some ass, not grab some ass.
