Oreo the raccoon, the real-life model for Guardians of the Galaxy character Rocket, has died aged 10.

The news was announced on the comic book superhero team's Facebook page.

"Oreo passed away in the early hours of this morning after a very short illness," it reads. "Many thanks to our wonderful vets for their compassion and care."

Sad.  Raccoons are an intelligent and lovable lot who make great pets and occasionally action movie stars.

"DTS" = Deader than Shit"

 And what did he die of? A sudden case of hot lead poisoning?

 Raccoons, as cute as they are in the wild, are a serious menace in suburban, or agricultural environments.

As lefty mentioned it means deader than shit......continued use is an homage to a R Booth who coined it and then has apparently moved on. Having met Senor Rick, Mrs Rick and young Rickette I can say.....nice people.

Where exactly was Woody when this sainted critter met it's demise?

I got no issues with them so long as they leave my avocados alone. It is a little irritating when they dig up my lawn looking for grubs......but......whatever.

I have no problems with them at all, as long as they aren't trying to eviscerate my chickens.

 One of my favorite books as a child, and I still re-read it as an older adult, just for fun, is "Rascal" by Sterling North.
