cuajota 3 #1 Posted June 15, 2019 Installing a boomkicker on the boat and my Santana 30. Any tips or tricks to the install? I have to figure out how to stop my boom from rotating, but other than that anything to watch out for?
Will1073 29 #2 Posted June 15, 2019 The instructions are very thorough. Take your time.
Jackdaw 97 #3 Posted June 17, 2019 Just make sure that you position the boom track fitting so a total 'vang off' does not lift the boom out of the kicker slug. This might require slightly bend (loaded) rods in the neutral position.
biglebroski 11 #4 Posted June 17, 2019 I did this on my J/80 about 3 weeks ago. Go slow, the instructions are amazing its gonna be way easier than you thought
svein99 7 #5 Posted June 19, 2019 Yes - boom rotation would probably brake it. Also verify that it does not interfere with any mast mounted instruments through the full range of movement including fully sheeted in (it normally flexes inwards).
SMU 0 #6 Posted June 20, 2019 More reinforcement if you have a carbon mast and tapping into it.
serioladumerili 1 #7 Posted July 8, 2019 If you have to cut the rods, think twice. Then, rethink again.
cuajota 3 #8 Posted July 8, 2019 Install went smooth once i modified the gooseneck so the mast wont swivel. So far I love it!!
Bad Andy 57 #9 Posted July 8, 2019 Leave the rods a bit long and slowly cut 1/4" out of them until they give the proper push.
