Can Someone Explain MAGATS?

Recommended Posts

MAGATS - Make America Great Again Trump Supporters - continue to ignore and/or attack anything factual that speaks poorly about Trump.  There have been a lot of slick talkers who have made their way to fame and fortune but eventually they fall from grace.  Trump waves his shit in his fan's face and they don't seem to care.  Do they not care about our country?  Are they willfully ignorant?  Or are they actually clueless?

We have a lot of elk here, well in truth most are gone now, who bristle at the mere suggestion that they voted for Shitstain but who support everything he does and then there's something about Hillary.

Some MAGATS aren't very perceptive and need to have that pointed out to them.  I think it's more primal than that.

You know the saying about how it's easier--- way easier--- to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled?

The MAGA morons won't admit that they voted for an incompetent stupid piece of shit. Every day Trump does something that reminds them they did. So it becomes a feedback loop. The more stupid shit he says or does the more they tell themselves he is a stabke, great, smart leader.

Yes, they can be explained.  "Liberals are my enemy." - The poster formerly known as Polaris the Clown. Lots of folks seem feel that way, certainly the Pride of the GOP.

For the *rump, it always will go back to the unbearable fact that the New York (read Manhattan) money and cultural elite always have and always will think of him as an uncultured, boorish slob from south Queens.  The fact that they were and are right about that is the core of his hatred of liberals.

That he found a base of MAGATS who feel similarly uninvited to the U's 21st century wealth and culture party was, I suspect, a surprise to him.  He certainly doesn't actually give a shit about them except as a source of votes and power.  I would bet that he Purell's up to his elbows if he ever touches a MAGAT by mistake.

Study the rise of populism in governments throughout history, and how it leads to authoritarianism. It's happening right before our eyes.

#MAGA's would have us believe that if the economy wasn't doing so well, they'd vote against Trump.

As if.

Donald Trump is president to everyone who cannot pass a 4th-grade civics test, They all wanted a bully and they got one. Trump promised he would fix government and he does by appointing people who will tear the system down, by taking shortcuts in established governmental procedures, and by skating around the Constitution. All of his supporters want that, they want a repair to a system they ignorantly think is broken, and remain unaware of the damage he is doing in the process.

A good leader listens and negotiates, Trump goes on the attack, say one thing contrary to him or stand up to him and he will torch the earth to get to you. He emboldens the worst people this country has to offer and takes the polarization it causes to the extreme, of course, that polarization has been around for a long time. It was the same when people got angry about long hair, or when Reagan made poor people on welfare the victim, or when hippies got beat up in a rural town and many thought it was funny.

I do not know how we fix this, but we better pick the person who is going to challenge him very carefully.

Yeah right

I've seen it said in the news a bunch of times, comment about "people who voted for Obama and then voted for Trump" which I find wildly implausible. My own opinion is that nobody (or very very few) people who voted for Obama in either 2008 or 2012 or both then voted for Trump in 2016.

There were a lot of counties that went for Obama which then went for Trump. Big difference between counties and individual people.

It's also my opinion that very few of the people who voted for Trump 2016 will -ever- vote for ANY Democrat, ever.

I know people who voted for Obama but didn't vote in 2016. That's the purpose of negative advertising, to depress the vote and make base v base. But anyone who says they were torn between Bernie and Shitstain is lying.

It's kind of dull trying to have a discussion with middle school name callers with a limited capability in actually getting their point across in their own words.

I just spent about 3 weeks in a place in Eastern NC where the owners had turned of the telephone and internet.  Quite refreshing really and I didn't mind an order of McD french fries every other day or so to check email.

AOC rode into town on the same populist wave as Trump.  Watching the Democrat establishment crumble is kind of amusing.

Oh look, it's soreass. Like most of the elk when you point out to soreass he's factually wrong he continues to argue the same wrong point (see USWNT) because to admit he's full of shit would destroy the whole thing. So he covers his stupidity with a layer of lazy cynicism & goes back to gorging rightwing media because nothing satisfys those bitter old fucks like AOC outrage porn.

Ya. Republicans elect a guy that says he's famous enough to do whatever he wants to women..."grab them by the pussy, whatever...."   And you say it's the Dems that are crumbling.

The dems became irrelevant when they all voted for Iraq war and patriot act. Folks like aoc are making the party great again

Liberals have a lot of high IQ people in their group.  MAGATS have a lot of low IQ people in their group.  From the beginning of grade school, low IQ kids had to resort to bullying high IQ kids in order to feel superior.  Maybe that's all there is to the MAGATS objective.

It is my personal belief that a big attraction to Trump is that many...not all...but many of his followers feel that Trump allows them to feel better about their own beliefs that

they are somehow, someway better than people that are different from them.

You can use the economy, or the "burn the bitch down" as an excuse to support Trump, but in reality I believe that if the economy tanked, he'd not lose much support, if at all.

Like many core beliefs...religion, racism, even sports teams, it's pretty much impossible sway an opinion.

Very cult-like.

Asimov had it covered "(the false notion that) Democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge"

Right now, for a brief "shining moment" they have their guy in power.

You are experiencing the dictatorship of the proletariat and it ain't pretty.

Trump plays on the people who believe they are the average working American and that the government is full of a bunch of elitests.  Everyone who opposes him is an enemy who is only worthy of derision.  Look at how anyone who argues is treated.  Name calling and insults by Trump.
Of course this line of thinking explains Trump supporters.  Why would they listen to any type of dissent when only the filthy elitest enemies are the ones dissenting?

Populist leaders have the perfect mindfuck.  If you are against them you are a liar by definition.

Are North Koreans willfully ignorant or is it that their only source of information is their own government? For most MAGATS the only source of information they pay any attention to is FOX and Friends,

And that's the thing - the average blue collar worker was tired of being under represented, or not represented at all, because rich fucks were running the country.  So who do they pick as their guy?  A billionaire who has never in his life worked a day doing manual labor.  A guy who was handed $400M and has never had to worry about making ends meet.  A spoiled brat who used daddy's money to get out of the draft.

I worked my entire life with these blue collar guys and if I asked anyone of them if they would vote for someone fitting that description, they would all say FUCK NO!!!  I've heard countless gripes about the rich fucks and how they need to spend a day with the tools strapped on.  There was no love for rich fucks.

One time, at lunch, a guy tells a story about the "suits" testing a high speed roller coaster before the park opened.  When it came back, all of them had broken necks.  Every guy in the room laughed his ass off.  That's what construction workers think of the suits.  I'm sure some of them voted for Trump.  Makes no sense.

Who said anything about parties?

Those links are about conservatives and liberals.

Are you saying you still think the Republican party is a bunch of conservatives?

If so, you are proof positive of what those links say.

It makes sense for a couple of reasons. It makes sense if you have a deep-rooted irrational belief in heirarchy, in a rigid social structure where there are definite people on the top, in authoritarianism; and/or if racism forms part of your belief in rigid social heirarchy.

This is why "our side" can literally do no wrong, and it's apparent corollary that the other side is always guilty of any/every thing they can be accused of. You see this behavior becomes especially obvious with ministers/priests who justify their evil ways; but it's a wide spread pattern of thought.

This is why hard-hat America, worried about their jobs and their families economic future, tied their hopes to a guy whose signature line is "You're FIRED!!" Trump is an arch-type of The Authority Figure (probably the only thing he learned in military school was to mimic this), he's the Mean Daddy come to punish all the bad children. Because nigger nigger NIGGER!!!!

It's not stupidity, it is the equivalent of their religion. And given that they would rather see the country destroyed than admit a mistake, they'll vote for Trump again almost to a man. It's a question whether there are even more KKK'ers and Nazis hiding the woodwork, who will flock to vote for him in 2020, I suspect that number was close to maxxed out in 2016 but I have been wrong before.

It’s not complicated. These are not very bright,  mean,  completely self centered people who don’t give a fuck about anyone else.  They are the type of people who will skewer you, roast you and eat you (a la Cormic McCarthy’s “The Road”) in the event of an apocalypse.

They are to be shunned and marginalized until their hour come at last, they slouch to Bethlehem.
