Trump blames Puerto Rico for hurricains

Recommended Posts

Wow! Yet another big storm heading to Puerto Rico. Will it ever end? Congress approved 92 Billion Dollars for Puerto Rico last year, an all time record of its kind for “anywhere.”

We are tracking closely tropical storm Dorian as it heads, as usual, to Puerto Rico. FEMA and all others are ready, and will do a great job. When they do, let them know it, and give them a big Thank You - Not like last time. That includes from the incompetent Mayor of San Juan!

Sounds like, "Even though you are a U.S. territory, all you'll get from me is a big thank you, as long as you don't ask for any assistance."

Signed,

https://us.blastingnews.com/world/2017/05/will-nato-members-pay-their-nato-debts-001728479.html

Quote

trump has on numerous occasions told NATO member countries to pay the dues they owe the organization. A total of 23 out of 28 NATO member countries owe the body. NATO countries set a minimum target of spending 2% of their economic output of defense. Most countries prefer to protect the defense of their territories and thus end up remitting less to the organization. Last year, only five countries spent 2% or more of GDP on their militaries, they include, the United States which spent 3.61%, Greece 2.38%, United Kindom 2.21%, Estonia 2.16% and Poland 2%.

The bottom 5 lowest spenders are Canada at 0.99%, Slovenia 0.94%, Spain 0.91%, Belgium 0.85% and Luxemburg 0.44%. The 2016 total expenditure of NATO was $892.160 million. The funds are mostly used in its command center in Brussels as well as in training and research.

When NATO presents a bill, and Spain refuses to pay it, then

1- Spain will have "NATO debt"

2- Spain will have the option of becoming a deadbeat like Trump. Paying bills is for suckers

Until then, you and Shoobie can keep carrying on your tag-team moron act. It's funny, for now, but don't quit your day job

Idiot they have been presented with a bill

Unpaid dues

The calls for NATO member-nations to pay up their backlog of dues have been a perrenial issue for the organization. Even PresidentObama chided some NATO allies for leaving the bills for the organization's military expenditures mainly on the shoulders of U.S. and the U.K. President Trump reiterated the same concern this week by categorically calling out 23 out of 28 members who have defaulted in paying their dues as scheduled

The 2% spending on defense is a target to be achieved by 2024, a common goal to strive towards not an obligation or debt to NATO.

BTW that 2% is for spending on their own national defense.

Care to provide a cite   Because the 2% was cited as in place for 2016 as the agreed upon amount.

https://www.businessinsider.com/nato-share-breakdown-country-2017-2

Only five of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's 28 member countries last year met the alliance goal of spending at least 2% of their gross domestic product on defense.

Point 14 says something about members whose current proportion of GDP spent on defence is below 2% aiming to move towards the 2% guideline within a decade.

Its a goal to be achieved not dues to be paid, subtle difference nonetheless.

I’m not aware of yacht clubs that set aspirational targets for dues and slip fees.  But if one does exist it doesn’t mean their members “owe” them money if the targets aren’t met.

It would appear you completely missed the irony of President Trump making an issue of corruption.

Of course, the man HAS no shame, so pointing that fact out to him would have zero effect.

If you think PR is corrupt, look at any Caribbean island, and tell me what you see. It's no worse than anyplace on the mainland US, it's just way more blatant....... And in that way, in a curious sense..... More honest.

Puerto Rico is in great shape with Hurricane Dorian taking a largely different route than anticipated. Thank you to FEMA, first responders, and all, for working so hard & being so well prepared. A great result! The bad news, Florida get ready! Storm is building and will be BIG!

Hurricane Dorian looks like it will be hitting Florida late Sunday night. Be prepared and please follow State and Federal instructions, it will be a very big Hurricane, perhaps one of the biggest!

A great result. That the hurricane took a different route. Thanks to FEMA.
