I can only imagine the disgust that NWS employees must have with the craven “manager” who pumped out that memo from their knees.

The statement from NOAA contrasts with comments the agency’s spokesman, Chris Vaccaro, made Sunday. “The current forecast path of Dorian does not include Alabama,” Vaccaro said at the time.

Former National Hurricane Center Director Bill Read blasted NOAA leadership Friday night on his Facebook page calling the situation “so disappointing” and saying he would comment because NOAA employees were ordered to be quiet.

“Either NOAA Leadership truly agrees with what they posted or they were ordered to do it. If it is the former, the statement shows a lack of understanding of how to use probabilistic forecasts in conjunction with other forecast information. Embarrassing. If it is the latter, the statement shows a lack of courage on their part by not supporting the people in the field who are actually doing the work. Heartbreaking,” Read wrote.

“What the Birmingham NWS office sent out Sunday morning was correct and served the public well,” Read continued. “It clearly let the public know that they were not at risk from the impacts of Hurricane Dorian.”

Meteorologists Are Outraged After NOAA Backed Trump's False Hurricane Forecast

Quote

For many meteorologists in the field, the NOAA statement was a clear political move by a federal science agency designed to appease the president's false claim that Alabama was in danger, while throwing the local Birmingham weather service office under the bus.

And several weather experts in the field were quick to show their support of the Birmingham office, pointing out that their Sunday tweet, and hurricane models for Dorian, were correct.

One of the factors in determining harassment in the workplace is duress - i.e. did the boss threaten you with your job, a demotion or cut in pay if you didn't do what your boss asked?

Maybe once this shell of a man is removed from office, harassment charges will be added to the ever growing list of criminal allegations.

Looks like the Pride of the GOP wants to keep this in the news. I reckon he’d rather we look at the abzuurdity of this than the jobs report.

That image is more in line with what President Trump said.  Wonder why he didn't use that, and decided to show a crudely altered map?

I do wonder why the President is so dishonest.  I do wonder why some of his supporters feel the need to defend his dishonesty.

Don't you?

If an actual NOAA NHC image supports what he is saying, as you pointed out, where is the dishonesty?

Using weather reports from days ago to warn frighten people when as president you have the latest reports and then using old and altered reports to claim you were right is pathetic.

You trying to defend him using the same means just shows you up as a gullible fool.

Edit: and dishonest.

relevant facts are, indeed, unimportant to you jerk-z.

your image does not support Trumps fuckup well after the forecast changed. So why did you post it? Are you stupid? Are you dishonest? Or are you just interested in a continuing pingpong debate of dumbfuckery to grind everyone down to dust? There aren't many choices here left for you and your boy Shitstain.

Trump was signing an EO when his Sharpie slipped and drew the bubble on the NOAA image.  After he was done signing the EO, he looked over and saw the altered image and realized that right before his eyes was proof positive he'd been right all along.

Early models had a possibility of Dorian grazing the extreme SE corner of Alabama.  On Sunday, when President Trump Tweeted Alabama might be hit harder than originally thought, yet all of the models indicated this was no longer the case.  That sounds like the President was either intentionally kept out of the loop on updates, or he wasn't really paying attention to them.

Three days later, he displayed a childishly altered map to prove he was "right".  Mind you, this is a guy who has never admitted to a mistake - even going so far (when discussing religion and sin) to say he has nothing to confess.  Nothing about the broken promises and contracts (especially adultery).

Now, you want to go back to a previous report that had expired by the time he made that stupid claim and use it to prove he was right, all along.

He was said to be getting hourly updates while on the golf course.  Guess it is difficult to pay attention to a potential national emergency while cheating at golf.

The best advantage you can have when you play golf is an eraser.  No doubt Trump keeps his Sharpies out of his bag.

Wasn’t hurricane Michael threatening Alabama on some model at some point? If so, The Most Honest Man in the GOP was perfectly accurate.

Which NOAA?  The current politicized iteration?  Or, the previous one?

Dear @NOAA Leadership: You all took one oath. And that was to the Constitution, not to @realDonaldTrump. Stop embarrassing yourself by putting sycophancy over science.

And if you are going to make shit up, at least have the courage to sign your statement. Get a spine. https://twitter.com/washingtonpost/status/1170492484868349952

Inquiry Prompted by Trump’s Hurricane Dorian Claim Is Being Blocked, Investigator Says

Quote

In a memo to Commerce Secretary Wilbur L. Ross Jr., the inspector general, Peggy E. Gustafson, said that staff in his department had “thwarted” the publication of her report. According to Ms. Gustafson’s memo, the department has said portions of that report contain information that cannot be made public, but will not say which ones.

The department’s refusal to cooperate with the release of the investigation “appears to be directly linked to the content of our report and the findings of responsibility of the high-level individuals involved,” Ms. Gustafson wrote.

She compared the move to the department vetoing her investigation, a significant statement given that an inspector general’s office is designed to conduct inquiries that are independent from the agency being examined.

The inspector general’s investigation looks at events surrounding Hurricane Dorian, which struck the United States in September. On Sept. 1, Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter that Dorian, which was then approaching the East Coast of the United States, would hit Alabama “harder than anticipated.”
