Jib cleats on j24

Cheers All,

since all my sailing buds have pussed out I’m solo on the j24 that’s been sitting around for 10yrs.. where’s the best place to install jib sheet cam cleats for single handing ?

If the cabin top winches are installed you could rig something to them.

Other suggestion would be to go sailing and figure out where the sheets land while you're cruising comfortably and just install them there.

Run the sheet from the tack, through the jib block, back through the genoa block, around the primary to the genoa cleat. Easy reach from helm.

If you use Lopez Blocks and cross sheet the sheets, that would put the sheet and cam next to your forward hip if the traveler is between your legs.

Or you can use those self tailing things but still cross sheet.

Better sail control if you run it from the clew probably.

Going through the genoa block helps prevents overrides. 

 

Yes, it is just an itty bitty little jib, but if it is as old as ours, you need the winch to get any kind of shape out of it.
